i noticed lot of programming jobs going to pinoys or indians national.
not really a good field to venture into, IMHO.
*
Why? Because of the people who are working in that field?

I guess what he means there those are the immigrants who asking for cheaper salary and so it makes the programming line not attractives...in terms of $$$
*
My line would be similar since there are alot of indians, especially filipinos.

But if you dont upgrade yourself, then you'll be stuck in the mud and getting yourself dirty with the rest of the others who dont mind being stuck in the same position for lesser pay.

cmi? I though IT tech renumerations shouldnt be to shabby in singapore, at least its better then in malaysia.

Btw, if anybody is interested, german lloyds and DNV are looking for Hazmat experts to conduct periodic inspection on their vessels and facilities as per class requirements.

i am a diploma holder so pay not very good...somemore it is a local mnc....my singaporean fren who left the company all now working at mnc pay sui sui. i hope to change it my luck next year.
*
Whats the big diff between a local mnc and mnc since their both "MNC's".

From the vibe, it seems next year wont be good, since Q3 of this year, production especially manufacturing has been down since euro zones economic squabbling between themselves.

Look for experts...
The project I am currently working on, a solar panel manufacturer, decided to put everything on hold for the construction. Is in Vietnam though.
*
Its just a title, you need to sit for the course and be certified by german lloyds in that respect. Most likely pertaining to the removal and management of asbestos in ships and rigs since it was used as cladding as a fire retarded material as well as for insulation in cabins.

the salary offered and benefits. the local one mnc seem to offers u as low as possible while the bigger one will be better the benefits and salary. for example Maybank and Citibank this 2 name u will already know which one to go interview, which one salary is better and has more benefits.
*
My friends mom works in maybank as some sort of regional manager of sorts and she changes her car every 4-5 years to keep up with the "times". mind you this is in malaysia, not singapore.

Apply from their website?
*
Not so sure since HR is processing the course for me since i'm taking it next year. Since with the new requirement taking effect soon, we need inhouse hazmat experts to be complaint with GL and DNV's new requirements on proper disposal and management of hazardous waste or materials present onboard the rigs. and i got the short end of the stick.

Changing car is nothing... if you are buying a property every 3-4 years in cash... that's something!
*
She buys her car cash in full, their family does that since they dont like paying the interest and they have cash to spare. and she doesnt sell her old car, she usually gives it away to either her sons or her extended family members.

So, you are with GL?? Malaysia or Singapore??
*
Im not with GL, but some of my rigs and ships are under the GL and DNV classification which require inspection from a class approved hazmat expert.

Wow, thats brutal man.

But then again, its not really surprising since i've seen this type of situation before and the authorities are no where to be seen.

As this picture illustrates.

Mind you, this is in singapore and last i heard, that place is still operational and sporting the same get up. But dont take my word for it, you can actually see the damage with google maps satellite view.

omfg!!! i enjoy kfc to the max when i can super steaming hot fried chicken with the fats still dripping after i bite into it... yummie!!!

when i order 3 piece meal, i usually ask them to serve me the 3rd piece later cause i dont wanna eat the 3rd piece after it cools down

i agree with you, someone commented that transportation is just as important as the military...
*
I used to be able to finish a 3 piece chicken meal, but now i just settle for 2 piece meal. and yeah, sg KFC is way too oily for my liking and its a bummer that they only have the cripsy rather then malaysias hot and spicy.

Worst of all, now that im in houston, not only can i not finish the food, the adage "Everything is bigger in texas" hold true. Damn you IHOP and your big portions.

Coz im not that big, i used to be able to finish a 3 piece chicken meal in malaysia back in the day and i believe the KFC chickens in malaysia are generally bigger then in singapore.

I betul betul lemah in eating. But then again its not healthy to eat so much. Not like some indians who can eat rice which measure the size of their own waist.

Most do. All of the ones I know do. Not Singapore's problem that your social and professional circle seems to consist entirely of the underbelly of this country. Might reflect an issue with you? Birds of a feather flock together and all that.
*
Then you will have to take this issue up with keppel employees i guess since their the "underbelly" as you so described. that and alot of engineering and fabrication firms in singapore, mainly the SME's which most business small or large have to rely on.

I used to work as a subi so i know how most SME companies. They'll tell the client what the clients wants to hear, but actual performing of the work isnt so.

ahhaha. Let me interpret what he's trying to say in bold above. "Don't mix with rubbish people!"
*
It just so happens when i was working as a subi, most of my clients are "those" sort of people and whether i like or not, i have to entertain them. After working as a subi and moving on towards being on the "client" side, i cannot shake the perception that whenever i deal with other subi's, i know better that what their telling me what is "I want to hear" rather then whats really happening due to my experience as a subi.

Many ppl always says accountant are nerds.

Can't think out of the box, only know how to follow policies, always sign here, approve there... Whereas engineers and sales ppl use more of their brain and tend to be more creative.

Perhaps accountants always sits inside the office facing their PC and din keep in touch to the outside world unlike sales guys.
*
Wouldnt sales involve people with the "gift of the gab"?

Nowadays engineers more often then are in a similiar state with accountants, lots of policies, rules, regulations etc. God damn pile of paper work for me to review and approve.
