When they say a certain DX version is supported, it means the hardware has optimized instructions to process DX API's of that version. Some games would allow you to run but you don't get the features. Literally it means you are running with limited features. For example in Dragon Age 2, you can select directx 11 but you can only enable certain options. Hope this helps. Edited: corrected the information. Apologize for the confusion earlier This post has been edited by clawhammer: Nov 16 2011, 12:31 AM

You are right, my bad and I apologize. Basically most games these days do not run only on DirectX 11, they have a few options and backwards compatible.

IINM. Even the windows as well have a few directX mode to support older and the newest cards.

You can only play games with DX9 with minimal detail and low resolution. I tried Codemaster's GRID on this GC, even low setting also struggling at 1920X1080 resolution. Thats a very old DirectX10 game. This graphic card cannot play modern games, its only meant for HTPC.

QUOTE(bloodchow @ Nov 16 2011, 10:13 AM) so will my computer lag if i force to use dx11? DirectX is backward compatible. If the game has DirectX 11 exclusive features, like tessellation, you won't see the effect of it. This post has been edited by kingkingyyk: Nov 16 2011, 11:03 AM
