Well, me just needed to check here first before I spread something this drastic. I was hoping a bit of good news here... anyway, there are still some grey areas regarding the customs and I need to check it out myself too.
*
sigh.... i see... guess everyone doesnt wish this to be the truth alright.... cry.gif cry.gif

QUOTE(Joshlkw @ Apr 4 2012, 12:59 AM)
EDIT: Okay nevermind, I found the news myself too. Oh well I have a parcel that just reached the PJ main Poslaju branch from the customs yesterday afternoon (past 1st April). Doesn't seem to have a problem so far. They should be sending it out to me tomorrow so hopefully no issues there.
*
Josh, the most expensive stuff you ever bought oversea and have it shipped here is how much? ever detained by custom before??? hmm.gif hmm.gif

If I remember correctly it would be around RM600+ or 700 about 2 years back or so. That was definitely a one time thing only, though. Because I generally don't allow any of my parcels to go above RM400 individually. What I do is just shuffle the items around so that each parcel is within the safe price range so none of them has ever gotten held by the customs thus far. Though as I mentioned previously, the price is but one of the many factors. I have friends whose RM200-300 worth of stuff has also been held before for no apparent reason. They just do pretty much whatever they feel like doing there, I guess.

i see.... aiya..... our country's customs..... sigh......

i hope they didnt see my package coming when my july shipment comes... unsure.gif unsure.gif

One of the guys in the Diecast thread is trying to point out to the customs that his items are 'adult collectibles' and NOT 'toys' so let's see how that goes for him. But I do believe it is a very valid argument considering the fact that the kind of figures we get are more or less meant for adults or at least young adults so the term 'toys' doesn't fit IMO. I don't even know why the heck such taxes were introduced in the first place. How is it wrong that collectors like us would prefer to buy on our own and not through retail shops that sell at a higher price (much higher in some cases). And then there's the problem with item authenticity, too. 15% is unthinkable. Heck, even 1% is retarded.
*
lol.... i agreed with you.... even gunpla are NOT toys.... LOL... for ages 15 and up....

heck, i really am furious regarding the taxes imposed on figures and such, i mean, all these are not as profit generation when compared to imported cars and etc.... and they already charges a tonne on them, why they still want to do this??? only possible explanations are either our government is retarded or the greed just take over them..... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

I don't think you should be worried about this package.

Its released by custom office as indicated on your tracking "Departure from inward office of exchange"

The retention is just indication that the item will be delivered or tried delivery but failed to delivered and sitting in pos office (You'll receive the yellow pick-up slips or the poslaju notice)

Added on April 4, 2012, 1:43 pm

Yeah, same here... just receive package from Poslaju as well, value above RM700+ but there's no problem with the package (and not stop by custom as well) ... so my guess is, will just wait and see if anyone with items exceed RM500+ faces such problem (btw... figures and dolls are fixed at 10% tax, 15% tax will be applied to other category...)
*
now im praying hard that my maria and kobato will be safely landed in my house when they both are shipped in late july.... i shipped them both together in one package.... and if not mistaken is just >RM500 by abit.... so now praying hard like i never did before.... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

QUOTE(Joshlkw @ Apr 4 2012, 01:43 PM)
Haha I understand that much bro that's why I didn't bother copying and pasting that link over from the Diecast thread. The guy has also been similarly advised by his fellow thread members there regarding this matter. Though there are still a few guys over in that thread that has their stuff held by the customs and still trying to appeal. Gotta follow up with their cases to see how things are going to turn out in the future.
*
wow.... now suddenly everyone is checking other threads....

well, i guess we from the "hobbies, collectibles and model kits" subforum should check out here and there every once or so to see if there is any "unpleasant" or "surprise" findings which we can share info of... thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Added on April 4, 2012, 2:54 pmGuys, wanna ask... if your package is held by the customs, would they open your package or some sort??? hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

me scared they do "something indecent" to my stuff.... sad.gif sad.gif

Hahaha no they wont. In my experience, although they want to see what's inside, they will ask you to open the package in front of them, that's all. You definitely don't have to unbox the figure itself lol.
*
i see i see... phew~~ that's a relief!!!!!!

me was so scared when i heard from my friends that customs will detain your items and will open and check what is inside.... sweat.gif sweat.gif

word of advice if ordering ecchii stuff value after shipping exceed RM500+... is go through proxy... declare lower value to avoid custom (but paying slightly more due to proxy) ...

that way you don't need to worry bout opening ecchi stuff infront of custom official ^^
*
but most proxy asks for around 10% of the price of the item... that makes avoiding custom no difference? coz custom also charges 10% tax..... well, the good thing is no need to open in front of them la sweat.gif

QUOTE(shinkawa @ Apr 5 2012, 10:31 AM)
no,no,no... custom will seized / confiscate any nude stuff. To avoid that risk, use proxy.

well said  thumbup.gif

echii stuff use proxy as ... as much as you're paying 10% commission similar as custom, you avoid getting your item confiscated (since ecchii stuff is illegal here in malaysia)
*
I see.... you both got the point.... yea.... rather pay the 10% tax than having my ecchi stuff (if i ever gonna get some tongue.gif tongue.gif ) confiscated by this conservative country.... sweat.gif sweat.gif

Wait a sec, Kastam confiscate only already nude figures or figures that have cast-off features?
*
i think mostly already nude figures... cast-offable figures are mostly still "decently clothed" before being cast-off.....
unless you telling me the customs are also figure maniacs who know which figures can cast off from the look of the figure itself... laugh.gif laugh.gif

*
yea.... amiami stated it in their FAQ if im not mistaken.... they're too "honest" to under declare the item prices..... sweat.gif

As much of a shame it really is, I think it would only make sense for them to not reissue such bundles. If you see it from their point of view, you can kinda say that it almost entirely kills off the entire point of such bundles (their so-called exclusiveness) in the first place, not to mention the hassle of having to reproduce/manufacture those items that come with them (key chains, game CDs/DVDs, audio CDs, books, etc.). Knowing all that, they'll probably want to leave it at that. Though it really is too bad for those who missed them the first (and only) time around.

*
yea.... kinda sad though.... no matter how high the votes for Figma Saber Lily and Figma Saber Extra... they will never be reissued again.... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

that is very possible too, totally understand why they do not want to reissue the exclusives and cheerfuls

but if i am GSC and see the high demand of these items, i will release a slightly different version to make more money^^

so we must vote to show them, even if we may not get it in the end
