Ok, so I've finally decided to try WoW. What's the best/cheapest way to begin? Do I have to really purchase all the expansion packs in 1 go? I heard it'll cost me a bomb.

u can just buy wow vanilla first than play til your lvl cap which is 60
then buy the expansion, play til lvl cap 60+
repeat til u have cataclysm

just mind that each expansions have their own new features that wont be available/playable until u buy it. example in cataclysm u can fly in capital city, u cant in other exp

private server play for free but it will ruin your gaming experience

Where can I buy the first starter pack? Does it come along with a month or two subscription?

Thanks for the info. I plan to start instantly as a paid customer as going for the free trial have many restrictions to my character. For that, would the cheaper alternative be to download the game and then upgrading it to paid gamer instantly or to buy the DVD like the battlechest? Which would be better? Does playing WoW with Unifi help with the latency issues?

i thnk the cheaper way to play wow us . is download the client .

and buy the cdkey one by one. dont buy all . coz the price maybe drop in the future .

buy battlechest cdkey now which now contain 2cdky inlcude wow TBC.
than wotlk and cata.

some say unifi can play the game withoug latency problem . but some after get unify still need get the tunneling servcices. u can try

WoW starter is free there is no more 10 day trial. Its unlimited except your level is capped at 20 , you may not join guild, the list goes on.

Like I said go test out WoW first with level 20 trial. You can play , its low level. Just see if thats your thing or not. If you fall in love , just buy Vanilla (you don't need BC , as if you buy Vanilla now you'll be given upgrade to Burning Crusade , which gives you a maximum level of 70). once you hit 70 , you can buy wrath and then cata.

I recommend you to wait for x-mas sale. I picked up last time for $5 for classic wow and $10 for wrath. Classic wow gives you 30-day game play time.

WoW taiwan is cheaper , yes they have english speaking community and raid there , but some of us still prefer US/Oceanic realms because of many reasons (i.e trade activity , pug , some lulz).

I highly recommend you to try wow starter. If you are looking for RAF (recruit-a-friend) , do not hesitate to ask us (if you hate to level). If you do that , you can instantly ding or level up very fast but that is going to ruin your gaming experience. Some people love this cause they dont have time to level up or just too lazy

If wow US or EU, its not budget tho, Cdkey for WOW classic, expansion Burning Crusade, Expansion Wrath of the Lich King, Expansion Catalysm, as well as the coming expansion Mist of the Pandatian.

Wrath cost 150, Cata, another 150, then MOTP another 150.

Wowtraiwan cost 0

wow US, compulsory monthly subscription

Wowtaiwan allow for game time play = definitely more budget if casual.

But ya, as many mentioned, in wowtaiwan, the only limitation for Malaysia might be the language (if you dunno mandarin)

Although with the support of English community there, still there's some shortcoming e.g. limited raid spot and if you dunno the language its hard to get pug etc. Guild cant support everything tho

However, in theory, the more Malaysian join, the bigger the community, the easier to pug,

If we can get more to join, we colonize the server

Do I get to meet a friend's character if he's playing on another server? For e.g., if I'm on Oceanic and he's on US.

No. But with the new patch, you can go instance/dungeon with your friend's toon that is created on other realm. I heard this system will soon to expand to raid as well.

TL;DR but i hope somebody already mentioned that BC comes free with vanilla ok?

You don't need to buy WoW classic + Burning Crusade separately.

What vanilla?

Vanilla WoW = the earliest stage of WoW, means you only get to level to 60.

Vanilla means the first WoW game.
It now comes with the first expansion pack.

I've seen people using add-ons while playing WoW. Is that "legal"?

Yes, as long as the addon itself does not violate Blizzard's addon regulation.

It's legal for home use or what so, but not legal in tournament, but i doubt if you will play until that level lol.

I've heard of people say their accounts were hacked. I mean, I don't see how they can be hacked unless it's something obvious like you told someone or they just wrote in on a paper right? No one's going to be so free just for an account & character. It's not even a bank account.

Let's say, my account does get hacked, is there a way to get back my character etc.?

Report to Blizzard, probably you will get back your gears, but you won't get back all the golds or stuff in your bag, that's what i heard from one of my friend who's a victim.

there is the email pfishing, the email say you won't something amazing, or able to enter the latest trial patch for free, or even a new expension.

or just click some fake link that claim to wow, like alot of miss spell name like w0(zero)w, instead of wow,

don't give away your designated wow email account, only give to your true friend,

if you got hack, stay calm, go to blizzard.com (i forget where, billing dept?) and ask them nicely, sometime you can get them all( idk 80~90%) back

i play for quite sometime(on and off), not once got hack, just once got lock account warning of a strange patern of login(i told them i couldn;t sleep late night) account got unlock again.

Yes , look at my real ID thread. All you need is their real id and you can do battlegrounds (provided same battlegroup) and random dungeons as well. You can meet them in dungeons. But you can't quest with them nor join raid with them.


The current patch allows you to do with dungeons. The new patch just brings PUG raids , so that you can invite your friends (as long same faction) and raid together with other PUGs

the best possible way to avoid hacker is to create a new email specifically for battle.net registration and business alone, most of the phishing spam mail come from other wow fan related web. Curse is one of them, and plenty more phishing spam come from SSH/tunneling sites.

i got a personal mail which i use for WoW and battle.net only, so far shes clean of any possible shitstorm
