What do you mean by lay the wiring? The fibre optic cable coming into the house or your local network within your house?

Unifi is on fiber. So you won't be able to lay the fiber now.

Find out where the Unifi / phone grid is, usually is behind the house.

Prepare an empty conduit from rear balcony all the way to your desire location. Put a wire/cable puller inside the conduit. Try not to have too many junction so the cable puller is easier to be pull.

This is how the cable puller look like.
http://wiretie.org/html_products/Fish-tape...lid-3mm-35.html

You need to supply the cable puller to your wireman, ask him put it inside. When all conceal is done, try pull say few feet of the puller see if it got stuck or smooth. Also make sure the outdoor conduit is facing downward, so rain water not flow in / cover.

This is how i did when i do my house wiring. My termination is from laundry area to my "server room".

My unifi installation only take 1 hour, because i prepare everything for them. They only drill one hole outside for the holder. And wire expose from laundry area until the small conduit box.

Green wire is the earth wires loh. Can recycle and use for wiring. The cable puller is about RM 20 for 30 feet.

Adui~... My house, network cable design all had been centralize to a store room as well as telephone cable, when my house is on the build. The network cable plan was before unify product is kick in. Now only know they direct lay a fiber optic come into the house.

Now since my house now going to renovate again, What I plan now is lay another network cable to kitchen from centralize network area(since the fiber box is come from behind of my house). And my fiber terminate at there with the modem.

Not sure this idea will work or not.

Than you need minimal 2 LAN cable in your kitchen. One for the Internet, another for IPTV. If you plan to do this way, your Fiber BTU will be in kitchen, and in need power socket.

You can ask for the unifi technician to come to your house during your reno to help you to lay the cables up front. Fiber Cables can also be conceal if you want.

If i pre conceal an empty conduit, i spend less than 30 buck only on cable puller, still can use cable puller for other things and my wireman only charge few the conduit price, which is less than 20 buck.

And Unifi come with free installation. Still is much cheaper.

Unless is in the conduit. If its cement on you can't. Also phone line come with rubber skin, which make pulling very hard. The cable puller are smooth which make pulling much easier.

In theory it is possible .. but you should know that not all conduit is 100 % through ..... meaning there could be blockage or halfway through the cable the conduit is separated and not joined in a proper way. By the way, please allow minimum bending radius of 45 degree or as much as possible when you conceal the conduit for the fiber optic cables. This will enable the telekom contractor to pull the cable easily without causing damage to the cable.

You need to know the fiber mode is running on, it have two type: multi mode, or or Single mode. Both use difference fiber core. And also there is difference specification for each mode. If you need this, check existing house owner with Unifi what are the cable spec (usually printed on the cable)

why you want to buy yourselve while TM is free once you apply it? If you get the wrong code or something wrong on the cables, the finger poiting will occurs.

Just get the pipe done and TM folk could put the cables into your decide location will be good. than how and where you want to distribute further will we on your own (TV box / Phone line...etc)

Try avoid "L" corner if possiable, as those are difficult area for cable to turn.

From what I heard from a friend who has his unifi installed, TM will charge for additional length of the fibre optic cable.
Anyway, I think if not too sure about the type of cable, better to let them install. No headache later is got problem.

You got few 90deg turn, did you have a cable puller put inside? else will be very hard to pull through the fiber.

See where is ur TM box located. If front top floor to ground floor u need to grile a hole to ground floor.
And U need to pay extra $$$ per meter for cable in d hse.

I would like to ask:

I hav a new house (new development) and at the backyard, there is a MK-FOUR Box for telephone lines.
According to the developer, this new development area had been laid with fibre optics.
If in future, there is available of Unifi service, may I know whether the Unifi contractor will pull the fibre optics from the MK-FOUR box, or there will be constructing those new station at the backlanes? I tried to open the MK-FOUR box, and it seems does not have any fibre optics cable or output...

I m asking these question is tht I would like to install the conduit pipe for fibre optics (to the server room) during renovation..

Please, anyone with experience help...

Thank you

First you have to know how and where the external fiber cable enters the house. Usually it is from the back. The main fiber cable will typically go into a BTU (Broadband Termination Unit) and from there it goes into your house. Inside your house, you would have to run the internal fiber from your BTU to the location where you want to put your modem.
Unifi optical cabling can ONLY be done by TM appointed sub contractors. Your typical wire-man will not have the know how to do it. There are 2 ways you can do the internal cabling: Unifi promotion package, where they do free cabling for you, or you do it yourself, which will probably set you back about 1K+ depending on the length
There are pros and cons to both ways:
Doing it with the TM package usually means you are bound to have unsightly cables because it will not be concealed.

If you want to have it concealed you have to do it upfront using your own money during the wiring work phase of your renovations. This would mean coordinating the Unifi contractor's work with your own wire man. I've heard stories of wire men accidentally cutting the optical cable because they did not know the location it was laid

Hiding the cabling in your plaster ceiling is one option. There cannot be extreme angles in your cabling as optical fiber cannot be bent too much. Typically it would come inside some protective cabling.

Same as electrical wires, if got problem also cannot check.

LAN cables I did my own simple LED LAN cable tester after I clamp it. Is only CAT 5e, don't need noise tester. Fiber is freshly pull by contractor, sure no problem.

Usual Broadband problem are on the device, or the RJ45 plug.

Link house. I'm thinking of running the pipes in my house so as to facilitate the unifi installer to run the fibre cables to the tv table. But first I've to determine where is the cable going to be linked from outside.

See how your neighbor unifi connect, usually are from the back of the house. Some house run from a manhole. If back of your house don't have the "tiang" maybe is run under the manhole.

Conduit was lay by my wiring contractor, for got was it foc or just count at one electrical point anyway is not much. I just have to supply cable puller to be insert when the conduit is lay. Make sure no >90deg bend. If there are 90deg bending, put a box so you can access it.

Wiring need early planning.

While unifi contractor just pull the fiber into the empty conduit using the cable puller inside. No additional charges since is still within the length limit.

Just 1 point at living area.

A bit pricy if just 1 point. Some more is they are doing it while attending your house on behalf of TM to do their own thing, right?

Yes. Same Spec. Got TM Certified.
We already install many houses, no problem.
