Unifi is on fiber. So you won't be able to lay the fiber now. Find out where the Unifi / phone grid is, usually is behind the house. Prepare an empty conduit from rear balcony all the way to your desire location. Put a wire/cable puller inside the conduit. Try not to have too many junction so the cable puller is easier to be pull. This is how the cable puller look like. http://wiretie.org/html_products/Fish-tape...lid-3mm-35.html You need to supply the cable puller to your wireman, ask him put it inside. When all conceal is done, try pull say few feet of the puller see if it got stuck or smooth. Also make sure the outdoor conduit is facing downward, so rain water not flow in / cover. This is how i did when i do my house wiring. My termination is from laundry area to my "server room".

My unifi installation only take 1 hour, because i prepare everything for them. They only drill one hole outside for the holder. And wire expose from laundry area until the small conduit box. Added on November 14, 2011, 3:57 pmQUOTE(kucingfight @ Nov 14 2011, 03:31 PM) Yes, i did same thing as weikee, except my cable puller= normal green wire only...i din know there's such cable puller Green wire is the earth wires loh. Can recycle and use for wiring. The cable puller is about RM 20 for 30 feet. This post has been edited by weikee: Nov 14 2011, 03:57 PM

QUOTE(phwee223 @ Nov 14 2011, 09:46 PM) Adui~... My house, network cable design all had been centralize to a store room as well as telephone cable, when my house is on the build. The network cable plan was before unify product is kick in. Now only know they direct lay a fiber optic come into the house. Now since my house now going to renovate again, What I plan now is lay another network cable to kitchen from centralize network area(since the fiber box is come from behind of my house). And my fiber terminate at there with the modem. Not sure this idea will work or not. Than you need minimal 2 LAN cable in your kitchen. One for the Internet, another for IPTV. If you plan to do this way, your Fiber BTU will be in kitchen, and in need power socket.

QUOTE(sonerin @ Nov 14 2011, 10:54 PM) You can ask for the unifi technician to come to your house during your reno to help you to lay the cables up front. Fiber Cables can also be conceal if you want. This have to pay extra, already state in T&C, they will not install when house under renovation.

If i pre conceal an empty conduit, i spend less than 30 buck only on cable puller, still can use cable puller for other things and my wireman only charge few the conduit price, which is less than 20 buck.
And Unifi come with free installation. Still is much cheaper.

QUOTE(ahter @ Nov 14 2011, 11:41 PM) issit possible to lay unifi fibre using existing telephone line ie using same concept as cable puller - pull out phone cable and replace it with unifi fibre ? Unless is in the conduit. If its cement on you can't. Also phone line come with rubber skin, which make pulling very hard. The cable puller are smooth which make pulling much easier.

QUOTE(Ahwei81 @ Nov 15 2011, 12:06 AM) actualy u can buy the fiber optic urself and ask ur electrician to help u pull and conceal it...but personaly i feel the fiber optic is a quite sensitive material...jz wory will hv probrlem only... free fr unifi is they will pull the fiber optic from the station at back of ur house into the small box in ur house only.... You need to know the fiber mode is running on, it have two type: multi mode, or or Single mode. Both use difference fiber core. And also there is difference specification for each mode. If you need this, check existing house owner with Unifi what are the cable spec (usually printed on the cable)

QUOTE(skng03 @ Nov 15 2011, 11:46 PM) psf??? or u mean Pfr .../ Pmr just ask my worker to do conceal conduit for this unifi, hack again after wall skim coat done not sure the unifi contractor will pull the fiber cable follow my route like this [attachmentid=2537875] but i'll standby some $$ for the extra length of fiber You got few 90deg turn, did you have a cable puller put inside? else will be very hard to pull through the fiber. Added on November 16, 2011, 7:39 amQUOTE(numbertwo @ Nov 15 2011, 11:59 PM) this is how my contractor did the job..straight from ceiling, without a puller or whatsoever.. maxis ftth installation was easy.. If all the way down without turning is easy. BTW, Maxis FTTH give you only private ip right? This post has been edited by weikee: Nov 16 2011, 07:39 AM

QUOTE(~Curious~ @ Nov 8 2013, 12:28 AM) weikee,u concealed ur cables then how to check the cables when sth goes wrong with the broadband?? Same as electrical wires, if got problem also cannot check. LAN cables I did my own simple LED LAN cable tester after I clamp it. Is only CAT 5e, don't need noise tester. Fiber is freshly pull by contractor, sure no problem. Usual Broadband problem are on the device, or the RJ45 plug.

QUOTE(mkow @ Nov 9 2013, 09:23 PM) Link house. I'm thinking of running the pipes in my house so as to facilitate the unifi installer to run the fibre cables to the tv table. But first I've to determine where is the cable going to be linked from outside. See how your neighbor unifi connect, usually are from the back of the house. Some house run from a manhole. If back of your house don't have the "tiang" maybe is run under the manhole.

QUOTE(lotep @ May 21 2016, 09:49 AM) Anyone experienced getting unifi contractor to lay conduit during house renovation? And how much they charged? The contractor quoted RM350 for the works for my house. Conduit was lay by my wiring contractor, for got was it foc or just count at one electrical point anyway is not much. I just have to supply cable puller to be insert when the conduit is lay. Make sure no >90deg bend. If there are 90deg bending, put a box so you can access it. Wiring need early planning. While unifi contractor just pull the fiber into the empty conduit using the cable puller inside. No additional charges since is still within the length limit.
