Unifi is on fiber. So you won't be able to lay the fiber now.

Find out where the Unifi / phone grid is, usually is behind the house.

Prepare an empty conduit from rear balcony all the way to your desire location. Put a wire/cable puller inside the conduit. Try not to have too many junction so the cable puller is easier to be pull.

You need to supply the cable puller to your wireman, ask him put it inside. When all conceal is done, try pull say few feet of the puller see if it got stuck or smooth. Also make sure the outdoor conduit is facing downward, so rain water not flow in / cover.


This is how i did when i do my house wiring. My termination is from laundry area to my "server room".

My unifi installation only take 1 hour, because i prepare everything for them. They only drill one hole outside for the holder. And wire expose from laundry area until the small conduit box.

Than you need minimal 2 LAN cable in your kitchen. One for the Internet, another for IPTV. If you plan to do this way, your Fiber BTU will be in kitchen, and in need power socket.

This have to pay extra, already state in T&C, they will not install when house under renovation.

If i pre conceal an empty conduit, i spend less than 30 buck only on cable puller, still can use cable puller for other things and my wireman only charge few the conduit price, which is less than 20 buck.

And Unifi come with free installation. Still is much cheaper.

Unless is in the conduit. If its cement on you can't. Also phone line come with rubber skin, which make pulling very hard. The cable puller are smooth which make pulling much easier.

You need to know the fiber mode is running on, it have two type: multi mode, or or Single mode. Both use difference fiber core. And also there is difference specification for each mode. If you need this, check existing house owner with Unifi what are the cable spec (usually printed on the cable)

Telephone point is for telephone. Not fiber.

You got few 90deg turn, did you have a cable puller put inside? else will be very hard to pull through the fiber.

Same as electrical wires, if got problem also cannot check.

LAN cables I did my own simple LED LAN cable tester after I clamp it. Is only CAT 5e, don't need noise tester. Fiber is freshly pull by contractor, sure no problem.

Usual Broadband problem are on the device, or the RJ45 plug.

Are you staying I'm high rise building?

See how your neighbor unifi connect, usually are from the back of the house. Some house run from a manhole. If back of your house don't have the "tiang" maybe is run under the manhole.

Conduit was lay by my wiring contractor, for got was it foc or just count at one electrical point anyway is not much. I just have to supply cable puller to be insert when the conduit is lay. Make sure no >90deg bend. If there are 90deg bending, put a box so you can access it.

Wiring need early planning.

While unifi contractor just pull the fiber into the empty conduit using the cable puller inside. No additional charges since is still within the length limit.

Is your fiber cable same spec as unifi? There are many spec of fiber cables.
