I bought the card and a tumbler with it and expected to get a free drink with it. The barista told me that the drink can only be redeemed after one hour. WTF?!!

I went home feeling pissed.

No, it was late, close to 10pm and I was about to go home already. And the barista told me I have to wait 1 hour. Never used a starbucks card before so I didn't know any better,

I don't go to Starbucks at all unless it happens to be a convenient place to meet with people to discuss business.

I just happened to want to buy a tumbler as a Christmas gift when I saw the card on the rack promoting the free drink when purchasing with a Starbucks card. I asked the barista "if I buy a Starbucks card, load it up, then purchase a tumbler with it, I'll get a free drink right?", to which he answered "yes".

Only when I paid for everything, got the tumbler did I ask, so... I'd like to order my free drink now. Only then he told me "oh sorry you have to come back after 1 hour". Couldn't he have told me that when I asked him about the free drink 5 minutes before?

Does starbucks charge 10% service charge on top of 6% government tax? I forgot already, it's been some time since I actually bought any drinks from them.

I want to use up the remaining balance on my card wisely. The presence of the 10% service charge will make a difference in what I will buy.

I checked Starbucks Malaysia facebook page and noticed lots of complaints about rewards not being captured in their Starbucks card. Does it happen often to you guys?

Managed to get this tumbler at 40% off.

Original price RM 38, after discount RM 22.80. Tall.

But it was the last one in Sunway Pyramid New Wing and they said the ones of the shelves are all they have...

Old Wing was even worse, there were no Xmas tumblers anymore, just mugs.

I went at 10am, they were just putting up the promotional signs and sticking stickers on discounted items.

No free drinks for these discounted tumblers, though. So the savings aren't that great if you consider this.

For the birthday cake redemption, is there a minimum size (such as Grande) I must buy? If I buy any standard Tall drinks, while using the Tumbler RM2 discount, will I still get the free cake slice?

This month, Jan, is the birthday month I registered with Starbucks card (also my real birthday month). 40 mins ago I bought a tall caramel frap from the standard menu. Until now my beverage tracker isn't updated at all; still stuck at the previous number. Also, can't see my free cake slice.

Is it because I did partial payment? I only got 3rm balance left, so I used all and paid the rest with my credit card. The Starbucks card has 0 balance now.

Is the tracker always so buggy? It's my first few times using the card and I already don't have good experience with it.

Oo, is this a new design? I thought the minimum load is RM 20.

I remember reading that the manual addition only lasts 1 week instead of the whole of birthday month? I may be mistaken, but I remember reading it on this thread before.

Checked the rewards tracker this morning, it's updated and I got my free cake slice.

So it took about 1 day...

You're talking about Christmas limited edition cards.

Normal cards only need RM 20 as the first minimum load.
