In life we do all the precautions we can, if really want to go is time to go. What we can do is make sure the thing we install are safe and product we get are good brand.

Heard from radio today the water heater that cause of death of the couple is instant water heater.

I would like to know if storage 25L enough for 2 person? Then storage tank share better or individual better?

QUOTE(stevie8 @ Oct 23 2013, 04:16 PM)
I went to Homedec last Sat. There was one selling solar 66 gallons vacuum tube type at 3,800 inclusive of installation. I did not ask for warranty as i wasn't interested to buy cause i already got one. Usually they give you 10 yrs. So long as the co still survive you worry free for at least 10 yrs. The vacuum type can bring the temp up to 99 degree!

Ok Thanks you guys advise. Just get price for 25L RM400 per tank. Installation RM250 per tank.
I also have think if centralized the switch ON/OFF put outside bedroom look so ugly too.

QUOTE(weikee @ Oct 23 2013, 10:24 PM)
If want to centralized it, need to consider where the on/off switch or plan to switch it on 24x7? I use individual storage per toilet, and each have its own switch. Smaller tank mean faster heat up, and save some energy because don't need to heat up larger quantity of water and not using 1/2 of it.

Solar can't afford. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

QUOTE(stevie8 @ Oct 24 2013, 11:44 AM)
Ai ya, use solar la.

60 gallons = 60 X 4.5 liter = 270 liter of 90C hot water.

Using same method:

270L 90C + 270L 30C
=540L  60C

540L 60C + 540 30C
=1080L 45C

1080L 45C + 1080L 30C
=2160L 37.5C

You are getting 2 tonne of water = 2meter x 2 meter x 2 meter of shower water!!!! can last you many many days shower till you die!!!

During Homedec last week have ask price for Solar Power too. Sales person say Rm4K++ free water pump grundfos & include installation.

QUOTE(stevie8 @ Oct 24 2013, 12:05 PM)
Why low price? There is no electronics except a electric heater (optional). It is only ss tank, insulation, copper coil for heat exchange, and double layer vacuum tubes.

I got hack 3 bathroom. Just can't afford solar unit price only.

QUOTE(jchong @ Oct 24 2013, 12:20 PM)
The main solar unit itself is reasonable.

It's the piping (incl hacking of walls, repair after hacking and relaying the tiles) which adds to the expense. Can be a few thousand RM for 3 bathrooms. Not to mention the inconvenience.

Yes i plan using storage tank. 3 bathroom 1 by 1 buy tank. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

QUOTE(jchong @ Oct 24 2013, 12:26 PM)
So you are using tank type?

For solar heater, the returns will come in the long term through reduction in electricity cost.

If don't want use cooper then can use S/S piping also can. I have get the price for cooper piping RM65 [19 feet] & S/S RM38 piping [20 feet]. My plumber told me just buy 5 stick enough.

QUOTE(stevie8 @ Oct 24 2013, 01:18 PM)
You are right but if you choose centralised storage still need to do hot piping.

The cost of hot piping is not really expensive. the hot pipe come from roof to ceiling and direct down to your bathroom where you hack only one row of tiles (provided you do not want hot water for basin). The problem is piping to downstair bathroom.

There is also money needed for a pump RM1K and Rain shower set x 3 bathroom. You can get a set for RM450.

But the benefit is here who else will give you 10 yrs warranty. Mattress maybe. Worry not hot water run out you can shower for hr all at once in all bathroom and no need to stop the valve while shampoo, zero electric bill unlimited hot water. You want super hot you got super hot, you want cold you have it. you can use it to kill germs or clear your toilet with super hot water. If you find any bug in the toilet, spray them with it and see they die and wash down the drain hole.

I heard my plumber now a lot owner using S/S because cheap.

QUOTE(stevie8 @ Oct 24 2013, 02:48 PM)
Better to use ss pipe. Cheaper and bigger diameter (thinner wall but tougher). Also bad heat conductor, lose less heat to surroundings.

5 sticks = 100 feet should be just enough. Anyway is short can always go and buy again. Surplus, problem return good? So better buy lesser
