Almost wanted to buy since now price drop, than this orb come kacau. Is it that serious? Pictures seen quite scary. I wanted one to keep in my working bag as often than not need to take pictures of site. X100 budget is still out.

Been a fuji fan 9 years, bought 2 compact, made in Japan, after they switch to made in china, have stop buying. this x10 made in Japan, hence my consideration again.

Fuji just announced this. Maybe they will recall our x10 and replace the sensor. rclxms.gif
Wait for answer on 12/03/12

"Fujifilm has said it will provide a 'definitive solution' to the white orb blooming problem on its X10 enthusiast compact camera. No further details are available at this point but Fujifilm UK, speaking at the Focus 2012 show in Birmingham UK, said that it is aware of customer concerns and that there will be making a full statement on March 12th."

The lower left pic is actually ok to me. Even though the 2 street light have orbs
in the middle they are still nicely star shaped. smile.gif

rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif hopefully it will be resolved by than. can't wait for 12th march annoucement !!! now if the annoucement is official, will the shops carrying X10 be recalled back to Fuji Malaysia to have the sensor(assuming thats the culprit) change and sell back? how to also see which batch model as dun recalled seeing such label.

am quite newbie here. for this compact, when it says 28-228mm, does it mean the real 28mm or crop, i.e. 1.5 = 42mm - 342mm?

Can't wait to own one....

I just emailed Fuji Malaysia. Hope they will reply soon.

Some people in Australia said they already called and Fuji will replace the sensor in May. Dunno if it will covered using the warranty or what.
*
Do keep us update on Fuji Malaysia outcome, any other info received pertaining to Fuji Mal, do share it here.

Fuji Mal should already recalled back from the shops to avoid un-aware buyers, fix the sensor and distribute to the shop again.

No problem folks. biggrin.gif

That's the technician. This is probably his boss. tongue.gif
Yeah hats off to them. Way to go Fuji Malaysia!  thumbup.gif

Heard that some country they replied that they haven't received any news from Fuji Japan yet. hmm.gif
*
Thanks Joseph......I also spoke to the technician asking when new batch with new sensor will arrive but no details on that yet. Was informed, like as per the mail, not all will get this orb, is it true? I see some international forummer say no orb, kena bash teruk.... leaving aside international, any local here did not face any ORB issue.

As I dun own one yet, can someone show the simplest x10 setting and ask to take some specific light(street light can?) to see if got orb or not.

If not all kena even with latest firmware, I might want to dive to get one....afterall if mine got, just wait till May to get the sensor change.... brows.gif

Alright, have jump into the bandwagon, got my x10 yesterday. tried to take orb got all picture blur up. tonight out to get some ORB.

my main worry is filter, 39.5MM, where do you buy those, available locally, if can no want step up ring but if no choice let me know where to get the step up ring.

I saw in Shasinki for x10 hood with adapter with 52mm, from the picture it looks like the back is not cover? correct me if am wrong.

anyway, ultimate for me now is to get the filter, already seeing my children having fingers on the lens !!!

Thanks.

there are no 39.5mm filters locally.
go to YL camera, buy the JJC hood for X10 which is cheaper, then use 52mm filters which are much easier to find with better quality too.

Thanks Mate, now got excuse to get 52mm filter to use for both dslr lens and x10 ! Can't seems to find it in YL, but saw it in shasinki, is it this one ?

http://shashinki.com/shop/lhjx10-lens-hood...ion-p-9606.html

If you have the link directly to YL on JJC(cheaper mah), appreciate share the link.

thanks again.

some of the ppl working in shashinki are abit incompetent.
they all come with lens hood and adapter.

Added on May 7, 2012, 6:22 pmactually, IIRC the original x10 hood + adapter is selling for RM130 in YL.

i have no idea why its listed at RM178 on YL's website, but i guess its to make abit more from outsiders instead of walk-in customers.
*
thanks again mate. Shall pay them a visit.

I got that one as well. No choice but to get from Shashinki since no one in Melaka is selling it. They got lobang behind to sort of give way if you use the viewfinder. Kinda similar to rangefinder style hood but quite horrible design when you use filter since it traps the dust. So you have to be rajin to clean the insides often.

I guess it's more towards protection of the lens element. It is indeed too small to protect from flare.

What poison???
*
tmw my adapter and filter shud be arriving. its kinda funny, with lubang, it will protect but will not keep the glass from dirt.

quite a nuisance we cant use any filter, now have to forego the original casing. i surf somewhere one of the filter is able to fit but size is 40mm, weird. subang parade dslr shop got sales and is displaying many old filters, perhaps should paid them a visit and start to experiment, maybe one will fit nicely.

already submitted my q with fuji mal when new sensor arrives. ppl buy special filter to have star and ours extra special, without any filter, we can create orbs !

oh yea thats another reason why i dont want to use the filter adapter...cos then i will have to buy a new case...or continuously take it off everytime i want to store which is irritating.

Many sites point to marumi 40mm for x10. Anyone care to confirm it fits n know where to get locally ?

Yeah had to clean up both the filter and the lens as well but no big deal. Just that you don't want to tighten the hood on the adapter too much. Else it will be too hard to twist it back out. One trick is to open the hood while the adapter is still on the camera. Much easier that way.

I didn't get the original casing when i got the camera. Kinda stands out too much for me. So i got a small pouch instead that can fit the camera with the hood. Can even fit the EF20 flash, spare batteries, card reader, lens pen. It's pretty packed though. Looking for a small shoulder bag to fit the battery chargers & gorilla pod (clone) as well. biggrin.gif

The filter i think depends on your luck. Some say 39.5mm. Some say 40mm or 40.5mm. It's impossible to find here in Melaka so i gave up and got the adapter to use 52mm filter instead.

Oh so you emailed Fuji Malaysia? Hope you can share when exactly will the sensor replacement program starts.

Got any orbs to show?  laugh.gif
*
Thanks for sharing. Got the adapter n Hoya today from shasinki. Ahem....I find it very awkward. With the hood look ok lah but without the hood.... Mmmmmm......

When my budget permit, will get marumi 40mm. Anyone organized bulk purchase, count me in.

now i think many are selling 2088 with some in this forum below rm1900.

Hey guys, for those whom got the JJC adapter to 52mm filter with lubang, have had a hard look yesterday night, why can't we find a ring to paste/tampal on the lubang. am sure a big hardware should have one ring(aluminium) that will fit perfectly covering the lubang. this i need your help, we could use glue to bond it, if find one or use solder(i dunno how and dun have one) to pateri onto it.

Will try to visit those hardware shop, starting with ace hardware and if none, the tradiational hardware shop.

Waht say u or perhaps someone here have try.
