foundation vs stpm...
which will be easier to study ??

fondation study whole thing, 1 and a half year in 1 year ( but in sem, a few chapter than exam, not sure bout it)

stpm got 1 and half year to study everything....( but 1 time straight exam everything in the book like spm)

which will be better, i mean can pass easier ???

which will be better ???

Clearly, the answer would be foundation, the one that is easier to pass and score.

U learn lesser things in foundation course compared to stpm. And have u not heard anybody say stpm is like the world 2nd hardest exam? lol Getting 10A's in spm doesnt mean u'll getting good results in stpm, and stpm is not like spm. They are very different from each other, the level of difficulty especially and the stress level, hence do not take it for granted.

and yes, in foundation course u study a few topics in one semester then sit for the exam at the end of the semester, unlike stpm that requires u to have superb memory capacity to keep everything u have learned throughout the 1.5 years.

Added on July 7, 2010, 3:23 pmAs for recognition and academic foundations, stpm would be better than university's foundation course.

yes true, both permit u to enter degree, they are preparation course which prepares u to enter university wert after all.

However, do bear in mind that before u take any foundation course in any university, u should know that the foundation course only allows u to enter the same university's degree program. Though there're always exception. For example, aimst foundation is accepted by PIDC too if im not mistaken.

Go for foundation if you're already sure which university you will be going. Easier and save time, however this option is more expensive than STPM.

1. Get Ready to work really hard to get really High ATAR in order to be considered into well ranked Universities. Not recommended going through this if your looking at very competitive courses.

2. The timing. Most UK Universities have intakes in September/October and Aussie year 12 programmes end and get your results around December/January. So you will have a long wait before you can start your Degree ^^"

If your ok with those among other things than go ahead.

hum business isn't really a competitive course, but at a very good University like say Cambridge,Oxford,LSE,Imperial etc. everything is competitive.
Of course at a University which tops in business it will most probably be the most competitive course to get in that particular uni
Competitive courses generally are stuff like medicine, pharmacy, dentistry etc. where entry is competitive everywhere, but in those high ranking Universities where everyone wants to gain entry you could say every single course is competitive ^^"
Arguably entry into any tier-1 and probably most tier-2 universities are always competitive.
The best way to determine what is the minimum you have to achieve is to visit the specific University websites you are targeting as different places will ask for different things.

In my honest oppinion , think foudation course if much more easier.

If you know what you are going to study in the future then just go for foundation course , or you are still undecided then go for STPM.

But don't waste your time if you have the $$$ go for foundation.

It should be if you know where to study then go for foundation but if you're unsure then go for STPM or others.

If you take arts subjects in STPM and foundation in arts, you can still basically study the same stuff in your degree...

A-Level is a type of Pre-U as also SAM,CPU,IBDP etc. Form 6 and matriculation can also be viewed as a type of pre-u
http://www.taylors.edu.my/courses/pre_u/pr...ding.php?id=103 read up here for some explanations on the structure of the different pre-u.

Foundation can also be seen as a type of pre-u as well though it prepares you to do your Degree and for Entry only at that specific University though other Universities might accept it as well but your options are limited compared to the more internationally recognized Pre-U like A-Level,SAM,CPU etc.
Usually Foundation is a 1 year programme by a University to allow SPM graduates a pathway into their Degree programme.

IPTA are public institution of higher learning eg. UM,UKM,UPM,USM,UTM,UIAM,UiTM etc.. Malaysians can only enroll using SPM for Diploma/Foundation there and can only enroll to Degree using STPM and Malaysian Matriculation. The fees are also very cheap because a huge chunk of it are paid for you by the government.

IPTS are private institutions of higher learning eg. Taylor's University,Sunway University College,MMU,Uniten,INTI etc. entry requirements are a lot lower and easier to enter. You can enter from a whole wide range of qualifications. A lot more expensive than IPTAs because you are paying full fees.

College unlike Universities and University Colleges can not award their own Degree. Those institutions that only have college status can only award up to Diploma and if they have a degree programme it means they are not the awarding body, it must be done through a partnership with a University.

Unless it is a university which is called a college smile.gif

If you are planning on going to the UK, you should not choose AUSMAT. After all, you know where you want to go, why not take the most appropriate (i.e. A level or IB) and straightforward way? The admissions people will have to pour themselves over your results if they even consider your application, compared to easily passing over someone with A*A*A*A* in A level or 40+ in IB. Conversely, if you are not sure, then A levels or IB is still right because you can then go to Australia if you wish (or New Zealand, or Ireland, or Singapore, or Hong Kong, or wherever).

Hikari is right, business is competitive at the competitive universities. Economics is a business related subject. Economics is one of the most competitive courses (in terms of entry) in the UK, just like Medicine, Veterinary Science, and Law. Subjects like Finance and Accounting would be nowhere near as competitive, but would still be highly competitive at Oxbridge, Top10 schools, and specialist institutions. Choose wisely.
