A real Gamble is placing a bet into something which you have absolutely no idea how it will go and a chance to loose everything you have.
If your defination of gamble must include "losing everything", then i agree all investment is not a gamble.
For gold, it fits the first part of your defination, ie you have absolutely no idea on the rise and fall for the next minute.
But if you put in the second part, gold investment does not defined as such.
But to me, when an investment is high risk, it is a gamble. You can lose 80-90% of your value in gold investment. I have experienced that before. So i define gold investment as a gamble
