Ok. So are you informing your customers who purchase your unit as a replacement to the dlink that tm provide that there is absolutely no firewall protection for their home network?

Whilst mikrotik is by far a superior product to the dlink it needs to be configured correctly. Without a good configuration Peoples networks and personal information is exposed and they were better off using the DLink.

Sorry but I think it's wrong to advertise a product as a suitable replacement when it is not.

Stop being an ass here, what makes you think a D-Link is configured better out of the box than that of MikroTik's?

I'm afraid Sillymexican is correct. There are only very basic firewall filters in a default ROS config and one very important one that doesn't do anything.

Anyway here's a real-life example. Just last week, I bought an RB951Ui-2HnD from Viewnet, Low Yat Plaza. Unifi was setup on that and within 24hrs, someone is using it in a DNS amplification attack.

That was my bad and easily fixed. For the average user, they won't even know that their router has been compromised. The RB951 is fast enough to handle normal browsing needs and serve up the DDOS simultaneously.

All this could have been prevented by that one important default filter that I mentioned above but in ROS default config, it's set to drop packets to the input chain from ether1.

So that's one way that Asus, TP-Link, DLink, etc... are better than Mikrotik but of course, I always recommend Mikrotik. I love the router and I could always use a few more zombies when I need to DNS amp someone.

Err no just in the very basic first instance.

1. Dlink has configured firewall out of box
2. Mikrotik has no firewall out of box.

Can understand or not? Mikrotik had potential to be a great firewall (I know I configure them) but out of the box it has no firewall configuration at all.

Not promoting anything. Just sharing relevant knowledge. Your price same as landasan (importer) and got no benifit. So better just buy from importer who already offer very good support and also understand how the routers actually work! And if you go there and ask for discount sure to get!
