if any kind souls will PM the poor organizer to tell him/her one of the reason for rather cold response (5/128?) might be rm30 registration fee...

it auto screens out big chunk of lower tier/for-fun players which had been the root for all the past Malaysia LAN tournaments because last time with low-to-no (ranging from free to rm10) registeration fee, these players will just join for fun or for the sole purpose of supporting the local scene. but now with the higher barrier of entry, we can assume*1 lesser incentive for interested gamers with 0 chance of winning any prize, hence lower participation... (for the past events, organizers had said that they imply minimal participation fee is not to bare production cost but to reduce the probability of non-serious participant who will fly aeroplane on that day...im sure the organizers had received enough sponsorship from regular sponsors, lets not make the sponsors upset with only 5 ppl show up that day)

*1 assumption made on rm30 is now an expenditure to an event because they have little to no chance to win any cash prize. according to simple microeconomics rule, higher price always lead to lower demand and with such huge supply surplus (2 weeks to event, only 5% sold), the organizers should lower the registeration fee before its too late. and im sure E sport is price elastic demand.

I would say the main reason would be the place and time.... XD.... My exam is coming on early December.. there's no way for me to join it... And i assume the same for most of the Uni student out there.... Which makes up of most of the SC2 player in malaysia..

yes you fight all 7 players in the group. each player you fight twice.
total 14 matches in group stage for each player. that is my understanding.

That's just the maximum slot and i think they are just putting to much expectations, this isn't pre WCG 2005 man... back in the days 128 slot easily got filled up for SCBW...

i think even with free registeration, we cant get 128 slots...

i think WCG we were at about 60ish player turning up only, although i heard 100+ registered.

wcg 66 registered 40 shown up. FXO 70 registered 58 show up (free entry)...

wat to do~ starcraft 2 itself is not free~

Probably its on the tournament date stated on website and same time as the one you posted i guess? You might have to ask them lol.

they only mentioned there is transport from kl sentral in the morning to go there, but didnt mention there is transport for coming back from cyberjaya (prolly becuz of neglecting to inform that as well or just plain being ignorance)

but for god's sake, do u really have to wait for the transport (if any) after u have tired of losing or lose interest in the event, and u cant just go back to wherever u belong from 'cyberjaya' dont u :S

u guys should go. the place whr they conduct the tournament is so cool and big. at the entrance thr thrs a platform wif massive projector screen thr for finalist. in the future most esport tourney is goin to be held thr. its beside the office of AMD.

if i'm in master or grandmaster, definitely i will go.. LOL

yeah thats correct. actually thrs a lot of players for sc2, but most of them is diamond and below rank. it would really discourage those kinda player when the 1st game ur going to face a GM or Master rank opponent. if they separate a diamond+grandmaster+master tournament participant and amateurs plat and below, they probably will get more entries. juz a suggestion thou.

Well if it helps, from what i've heard, the top 16 in WCG do not have to qualify, they are automatically invited into the Grand Finals. As such, I suppose you wouldn't have to worry about playing them in the qualifier?

but i dont think there's only 16 players in top WCG which are diamonds & above.. there's tons of them!

u wrong....if u go FXOopen....40-50% participant is master/GM and alot of them is high diamond.. hardly find any lower league only 3-5 perhaps

It seems there is a lot of confusion with the tournament so im here to clear it out for you guys yea and hopefully will increase more understanding on the tournament.



1. Free shuttle bus will be provided to & from KL Sentral.

That means we will be picking you up at KL Sentral at 9.00am 27/11/2011 and will send you back to KL Sentral after the events finish. It can be either before or after 6.00pm depending on how fast the matches finish.

Please accept our sincere apology for not updating it on our website which eventually created the confusion. Sometimes we do miss out this small things as we are doing a lot of things to prepare for the upcoming tournament



2. All top 16 players in WCG 2011 will auto qualify into Grand Final on 18 December 2011.

You dont have to join the qualifiers. However, you still need to pay the registration fee of RM30 to be fair for everyone.

There are 2 reason we introduce this:

a. Instead of competing with other tournaments, why not compliment each other? Players from other tournaments can join our tournaments and players from our tournaments can join others as well. This create a healthy competitive environment in the gaming community encouraging gamers to promote & join each others tournament as well.

b. This gives more chances for other players to qualify by avoiding the big guys in the early stages. The big guys has proven that they are skillful so there is no point for them to prove it again in the qualifiers. Its like FA Cup in the BPL where only in the round 3 the premier league teams played.



3. The qualifier will still go on even if there is less than 64 players

Even if there is less than 16 players who join the cash prizes still remains and the qualifier still goes on. Meaning if let say we have 32 players joining the qualifier, all the 32 players qualified into the grand final.

However, the 32 players still need to join the qualifier and they will be divided into 8 groups with 4 players each. You will be fighting for the seeded ranking. Your ranking in the group will determine who you will play in the grand final.

For example, if you get 4th place in the group, there is a high chance that you will be meeting with the 1st place ranking player in another group. Therefore, getting a better position in the group will increase your chances to win the cash prize.

So although you qualify, you still need to fight to get the best position in the group to avoid the top ranked players and increase your chances to go to the next round.



4. There is enough time to finish all matches in a day even with max 128 players

We have strategically allocated more than 20pcs on that day. There are 100++ pcs available at the facility and all of the computers are high specs. In the group stage, each player will play twice in a round robin format. We have calculated if there is a max of 128 players, all games will finish latest by 7-8pm.

Thats the reason we choose MyCORE Center, the 1st e-Sports stadium as our main venue. Everything is ready and set to go.



We hope that we have answered some of the most common questions here and clear out any doubts & rumours regarding our event.

As you can see, no matter what happens Spotgamers Tournament will still goes on as plan because thats our promise and commitment towards e-Sports. Spotgamers has been in the gaming industry for more than 3 years now and we have hosted a lot of events for the community such as the 1st Spotgamers Gamers Award in 2008 where we give award to the gamers who had the best achievements through out the years. So we hope that we will be able to get the support from the Starcraft 2 community as this tournament was not made for us, it was made for you. We dont get a single cent out of this. Everything that we get from the registration fee to the sponsorship are there just to cover up all the cost of running the tournament. We are giving away RM42,600 to 4 games and this is consider one of the biggest total cash prizes yet. How we did that? Its all from commitment & passion. If you believe you can do it, you definitely can do it ^^

oh hi there, we met at the event and you watch my 1st game.

So wanna share my experience at the event.

My 1st round i face 1st time player like myself too. During 1st game i was beaten easily coz i was rushed by marines. During the 2nd game, i change my strategy and won with my siege tank. And last game was epic game for me coz at first my base were defenseless then my opponent completely destroy my base with medvacs air drop and so do i with tank and marines to his base but my units are more and stronger than him then he quit and i won.

2nd round i face Duskbin_Cobo, you know who..... and the result.

My only experience in SC2 was play about 5 games in the Campaign and 2 games with real player during the warmup before the main tournament start.

Great event, great place, great games and amazing gamers too.

keep on practising and u'll be better. in Malaysia scene tourney currently Protoss and Zerg race is in the up and they won a lot of tournaments. sad to see terran pro, timber or scrubbie can't at least get to the semifinals...

scrubie was a very good toss. he transition finish d? anyway i've nvr seen a malaysian zerg win too, its always protoss. cobo risen and renson.

why wan wait others to win? get urself in~ practise more get the fame by urself yo~ @@

Doesn't feel right.

There is 2 reason why they can be unlocked. 1st, they manufacture quad core processor only and they lock up 1-2 core to sell as dual or tri core. Why? 1 chip cost $2 and it saves time and money to come out with a new design and to meet market 2/3 core demand. 2nd, damaged parts of the processor. Some cores/memory cache/controller might be damaged so they lock them up and sell as lower series to prevent wastage.

This also happen to Intel and this is how they counter wastage in the industry but for Intel, I think they went a bit further to reduce this kind of wastage as in they only approve good chips to be sold and the level of fabrication or perhaps a total new design. I think and that's why you can't get your hand on i3 which able to unlock to i5 quad xD
