You guys never use the processor? Sad...*while I got 1 more processor beside me*

no lar..the unlocked one is my 720be...i got no luck unlocking 2 unit of 545, cant boot up after unlock and had to reset CMOS =.=

Doesn't feel right.

There is 2 reason why they can be unlocked. 1st, they manufacture quad core processor only and they lock up 1-2 core to sell as dual or tri core. Why? 1 chip cost $2 and it saves time and money to come out with a new design and to meet market 2/3 core demand. 2nd, damaged parts of the processor. Some cores/memory cache/controller might be damaged so they lock them up and sell as lower series to prevent wastage.

This also happen to Intel and this is how they counter wastage in the industry but for Intel, I think they went a bit further to reduce this kind of wastage as in they only approve good chips to be sold and the level of fabrication or perhaps a total new design. I think and that's why you can't get your hand on i3 which able to unlock to i5 quad xD
