hmm bleeding where the nails? the body? if nails to me its ok....cannot see... we malaysian never complain its the culture..sad through
*
I got an email before... grooming incident I think from that same place Amanda said... the dog was hurt. Bleeding behind the ear... anyway, my friend has stopped grooming his dog there I think coz reliaze they do not clean the grooming tools properly and caused rashes and mange....

Anyway, big grooming places often have a bit of mistakes. Still the best place to groom is at our own home by ourselves.... Well, I know many people prefer to ask someone else to do but then when we do it ourself, we are sure the dog would not be hurt and gets extra attention.

Last time I groom my own shih tzu for 12 years... he never step into groomer's place before hahaha.... but I was old fashion, I only cut using scissors and I groom while sitting on the floor with my dog in between my legs for 2 hours straight. sweat.gif

gosh~~~ my dog knows how to bully me wherever its time to bathe; i gotta lock the door and bathe her...then comes the hard part combing while blowing her hair dry.she would whine and put her paws up moving up and down to block me from combing wherelse my sis or maid does that she wont dare to move  sweat.gif how do u do that?
*
Wah... it is bullying you lah. My shih tzu hated baths.... and grooming... say the word "comb hair" in cantonese and he will go hide... but when during grooming he will sit still and won't move wan, so kinda amazed by him last time hahahah.... well, maybe you can associate grooming time with some food, it may help.

price range woud be rm600 and below....u can microchip...they do that on the k9 day...otherwise im not sure where u can microchip through..try the vet....
*
The microchip is ONLY for dogs that come with MKA line.... it is for their computer system for the dog breeds registered and for breeding purposes.

The identity microchip is done by ANOTHER COMPANY, which I think you can ask vets about it. It is for Identification purpose.

MKA does not do microchipping during 9 day at Bandar Utama, that is by the OTHER COMPANY. If need to, contact puppy.com and ask for the company and where they do it. Also, it would not be RM600....

Actually, the right method to stop bleeding is to apply corn strach. The Corn starch will soak the blood, creating a crust that will stop bleeding instantly. Groomers and vets will also use this method.

i saw many shih tzu's fur is kind of yellowish at their legs, and butt. Cannot be washed one ah?? My fren told me that she wash it using puppy shampoo many times already, but still yellowish.
So how??
*
It is the urine stain.... It is very normal for the fur to be stained... it can be urine or dirt. If your friend bath the puppy often, it will cause the puppy to have dry and damage fur later. Tell your friend to accept it or go to groomer and trim off the yellowish fur. But that is gonna come about again when the fur grows back.

hi, my little shih tzu (almost 3 months old) always got blowing problem......how to say ah. Its not like sneezing, its like when ur nose's hole are blocked, u blow hard to unblock it. something like that lah........
She always do that wor since the day i bring her home. I thought she got a cold or wat, but she looks healthy, playful, eating and pooing normal. But i just wonder y....
*
Have you tried bringing it to the vet to check? Coz phlegm in dogs is a problem, it could be a sign of kennel cough when the pup starts to hack and cough. Or it could be something stuck inside the nose.

Royal Canin is a very good super premium dog food.... very high in fatty oils which is good for the skin and coat. But must be aware... once a dog eat Royal Canin, it might not want other type of dog food hahahah....

You can get cod liver oil in the capsule form. No need to feed everyday, you can feed every other day since the dogfood already has a good amount of oils in it. Just squeeze 1 capsule into the food is enough.

Shih tzus should be combed and brushed every day to avoid tangles, major grooming should be done once a month. It is always good to learn how to trim and clean up some parts of the body using a pair of scissors.

Did he vomit after play? Sometimes when a puppy or dog eats too fast and drinks alot of water after it eats, it can cause the dog or puppy to vomit. Did she vomit out all the food? Or foam? What colour?

Warm or cold water is ok. Our weather is hot so they do like cold water.

wah teng teng, u feed royal canin for shih tzu ah, quite expensive the brand. Before I'm feeding my shih tzu Nutriedge, but i heard that they're not that good. Just bought NutraGold, and the ingredients looks better. Later will try on BlackWood after finishing this 3kg Pack.
*
Why NutriEdge not good? Do not go on trying dogfood after dogfood.... not that good. Stick to 1 brand that she likes.

NutraGold, you feeding the holistic version or the super premium?

NutraGold holistic is recommended but the super premium is not that interesting....

Chicken (20%), chicken meal, brown rice (20%), oatmeal, corn gluten meal, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), ground corn, beet pulp, egg product, flaxseed, poultry digest, brewers dried yeast, vitamins and minerals.

Those stuff are what we should try to avoid our dogs from taking.... Chicken fat is normally just chicken skin... beet pulp is, well... used as a filler, no nutrition from it. Corn gluten and ground corn... still as filler, no nutritional value and the poultry digest is weird...

ohh.. i just did some research....

Chicken digest - A material which results from chemical and/or enzymatic hydrolysis of clean and undecomposed chicken tissue. Chicken digest is a palatability enhancer made by reducing (cooking down) chicken meat and fat into a concentrated liquid or dry product.

Can read more here: http://www.allourpets.com/natural-pet-food/index.html

The site recommends these brands that are high quality:
Canidae, Flint River Ranch, Pinnacle, Natural Balance, Eagle Pack, Chicken Soup, Innova, California Natural, and Wysong.

Another interesting site on ingredients used in catfood and dogfood. All pet owners should read too.

Ah.... that is holistic version. Yes, NutraGold is good. Eagle Pack holistic and Innova is also good, Innova Evo is quite natural but pricy. Of course it must suit your dog. For my CKCS, she cannot take any other food other than California Natural. Other food makes her fur drop.... Nutro makes her go botak and itchy LOL.... Innova Evo and Eagle Pack Gold made her shed a lot.... so it is still up to you. Must get a brand that suits your dog's health.

i know california and innova and eagle pack better, but of course pricy lah.....
oh....nutragold is good, but i search internet, this brand not so famous.....even blackwood is more popular than nutragold.
I thought Blackwood is good, but from the ingredients, not so impressive, only poultry meal, not meat, and got corns also, but the price is cheaper than nutragold.
So blackwood ok ah?? mayb will try blackwood after she finish this nutragold and compare the results, coz nutragold not available in many pet shops.
*
Yah, nutragold is rare... Blackwood is more famous coz it has been in the market for quite some time. Years ago, dogs only had Super Premium dogfoods to choose from the Premium and Commercial... but now Holistic is better for dogs so California Natural, Pinnacle, Innova and Eagle Pack are getting popular. NutraGold is new so not many would know.

The best is to always follow the ingredients. A meat product followed by a meal product is ok.... but if its followed by say by-product and or the whole ingredients has corn and no natural meat products then it is not so good.

Also, holistic makes dogs leaner and slimmer. My lab was on a Super Premium diet which had some corn in it till we changed to 100% California Natural for all my dogs, she became slimmer loh. Really nice now. My CKCS got shinnier fur and less shedding. She was on NutriEdge before and the food made her bulkier since she was a bit thin.

oh nutriedge is fattening....luckily the 1kg pack almost finish, now gradually switching to Nutragold.
Meaning meat product and meal product should be the main ingredients of the kibbles. So blackwood also not so recommended, coz the main is meal, followed by rice and corn........ rite??
*
Yah, Nutriedge got more oils in it... so if got thin dog, eat that food sure fat hahahah...

Super premiums are always made with meal and corn.... so it is up to personally preference. Holistic better lah. If cannot afford Holistic then Super premium brand like Blackwood is good.... but if you can afford holistic, go for it.

Said liao mah... Super Premium, Blackwood is well known for being a Super Premium. Can say very good quality Super Premium brand. If we compare with holistic, not that fair lah since holistic will always be better than super premium in terms of ingredients.

examples of hollistic kibbles?

I already listed mah in my last few post I think.

We only have a few brands available here:

Canidae
California Natural
Pinnacle
Eagle Pack Holistic
NutriEdge
Innova Evo - the normal Innova is super premium
Chicken Soupd for the Dog Lovers Soul

So far these are available in KL.... there are 1 or 2 more brands but I can't remember the brands....

Holistic would have no soya, no wheat, no corn, no by-products, no gluten, no dairy, no artificial colours and flavours. Some holistic brands use Beet pulp in their food. It doesn't give nutritional value but it gives fiber in the diet. Well, better than corn lah to me.

yes yes.. even when they make us angry, we wont stay angry for long..  rclxm9.gif

Added on March 27, 2007, 2:15 pmdont judge some brand and think that they are good because they are famous.. some pet food company spent alot of money advertising so that their food will be well-recognised..

check for the pet food ingredients in order to compare which dog food is the better one.. however, need to see whether your dog likes to eat that brand or not.. if not, still wasted..

for me, yes.. innova is quite pricy. rm 29 for 1.5 kg but the result is worthy.. as long as my babies are healthy with nice coat, i'm happy with the result.. so spend more also i'm willing to do so.
*
Hahaha... now the example of the company that does that..... Pedigree and Alpo loh...
