Model: Iphone 4 (Maxis set)
iOS: 5.0.1 (Jailbroken)
Date of Purchase: Dec 10
Telco: Maxis prepaid

I believe this is firmware issue. Not related to hardware. I've no issue before upgrading to iOS 5 months ago and all the while jailbroken

The best way to rectify this issue is by turning your carrier mode into manual.

Go to settings -> carrier -> turn off automatic and manually search for ur network.

PS: I'm a victim of restoring (iOS) for the past 1 month until i made changes to that setting and it solved 99% of my headache.
