That is the easy method. If you fussy, use a cutter open up a small hole put in the wires.
Wall mounted bedside lamp, Any problem with that?

Depend on the bed configuration. If the wall light are mount beside the bed than the bed frame can hide, if in between it have wall can't help but to expose the wire or conceal by hacking the wall.
