aah. it's harder a bit oso when i first started. need about a week to get used to.

man i still miss bramble, cthulhuphant, circe, dark lady, tarot, , empath, harkons, genjuro etc.

HoN got some really neat concepts. i'd honestly will still be playing if S2games didn't screw over paying players with their region restriction bullcrap.

haha but D2 nowadays really bring radical new changes. Something i used to love HoN for back when D2 stagnates and progresses super slowly from D1.

last time prefer playing US or JPN server. not much lag and the players are overall much better than SEA players.

that's ofc until they kaw2 enforce the region ban and i can no longer use proxy to bypass the restriction.

got a lot of skins and perks in my PAID Int account and when forced to play SEA server not only have to play without all of my hard-earned stuff, even hero need to buy.

that got me so mad. even until today hero pool still limited right?

yup totally understand your situation especially using real money to buy skins. yes, limited hero pool but everytime they will offer limited free set of heroes. On holiday seasons they open all heroes for play. u can use silver coins to buy hero tho.

since i play limited hero, i m still ok. recently buy nightmare predator using goldcoin which i got for free due to some event. for ultimate series avatar, once u buy certain item, ur hero get upgraded skin for eye candy. (think u play int should dy know haha).

i m staying in hon for sure until some moba really beat hon in every aspects then i only move. D2 GUI, i personally cannot accept. laugh.gif

It's a little more than just using real money to buy skins. I am one of those who were playing since beta and when the game was first launched it wasn't F2P and we need to pay USD30 for it. And then along with a lot of other paying SEA players we got shafted when gayrena came along and the regional lock was in place. Lots of early backers got pissed off by it and quit.

Yea i know can play for silver coin and do quests and whatnot but now we're torn on whether to spend them on heroes or skins and grinding them isn't exactly fun. I really can't accept the need to unlock heroes and let money/time limit a player's options especially in a game where counterpicking is important.

Well "beating" is mostly subjective. I loved hon because of their fast pace, awesome taunts and announcers, how they used to be comparatively progressive and change whatever unnecessary things leftover from dota. And they kinda pioneered the revolution of moba with much needed things like reconnect and replay feature.

Things i hate about HoN is everything gayrena, the inconsistent character design and model quality, newer heroes tend to be designed with a complete set capable of doing everything well, too many stuns, the "thaification" of stuff in game (man those thai announcers really gets on your nerves after a while), cosmetics starts to go crazy and fanservicey by the day, and once its under gayrena there's been much less progress other than minor tweaks and a buttload of skins. The game engine also started to get dated a bit. Also WHY THEY HAVE TO FUCKIN NERF AMUN RA TO USELESSNESS???

That being said now i remember more stuff. Really missed the hybrid dota heroes like scout and arachna. Forsaken archer, Moraxus. All nice heroes i wish dota have lol.

I'm not saying one game is better than the other or anything but im really bummed that HoN falls short to the potential it holds because of bad business decision. I really missed the days when HoN is still considered the top 3 MOBA and a serious contender to LoL and D2.

And it still kinda warms me inside that the game still survive and there's still someone here playing it laugh.gif

If i mention HoN to any other gamer outside i will surely be greeted with a "huh?". Keep the legacy alive man!

Btw how did u started playing HoN?

since 2010, not that early like beta players. i play the game as soon it reaches cybercafe until now biggrin.gif

you are right about certain heroes able to do complete set of skills (eg: sc, nomad) the most popular heroes and overused heroes, always appear in every game. the trend of f2p is really pulling down standards of public games. tbh i rather pay to play to have quality games and this game is being dominated by thai/pinoy in asia now. Hon gameplay is solid, i would still be playing this.

yea i oso got a feeling that there's too many heroes with stuns. i used to love using electrician but then no point using him since his grab will always get interrupted. yeah the game is still solid but imo it started to get a little stagnant. i've visited the forums and look around for the first time in a long while. seen some crazy stuff they're testing in the beta server such as removing PK and Kongor. What are the last few biggest changes in HoN?

they intro more and more powerful heroes. the way garena balance hero unlike previous wc3 dota is to make more all hero skills more powerful to balance the game, seriously.

i watch most hon stream on twitch, mostly all disappointing matches because their teammate dont know how to play their hero. this is becoming worse and worse day by day. competitive players cannot enjoy the game unless they bring a group of friends to play together. haha imagine 1 player from your team left and another newbie scare to fight. It is a gg regardless how good you are.

imo, hero like sc has too much good stuff. he has basher with critical strike, with mana regen he can stay invi all the time, with ward to see invi heroes and deward. worst now is, sc now has ability to jump to enemy hero instantly once he uses his ult. i think he is by far the perfect all terrain hero in hon. there are also other heroes like nitro, etc.

Imo if one skill is too powerful he must have other "weakness" (eg: low hp, high skill cd, etc) but this case he has skill that can evade 100% enemy attack. i think hon has balancing issue which happened last time still happening now. they are not aiming to reduce overpowered skill, they aim to make ALL hero more powerful to balance the game. LOL

lastly i think hon has really good avatar for hero where dota2, LoL can even come close.

i think dota has always been making every hero OP to balance the game. like antimage for example recently can leave a clone in place when he blink and aghanim can nullify and repel a targeted spell back to the caster. he's already unstoppable late game even without those abilities.

yeah scout got some good stuff. but at least he's squishy and very useless if he have no farm. and that jumping skill needs staff of master, which is a bit of a waste since he really need carry items. and i think heroes like arachna and pesti can easily counter him hard.

the problem with HoN balance is they have too much voice from all the beta testers. i dont have a problem with the direction of "if every hero is op, then it's balanced", but HoN loves to make heroes that can do everything by themselves. dota2 usually makes a hero very OP in one thing but sucks at the other so that every hero can be OP in their own way. Heroes that can do everything usually does them quite poorly compared to specialists.

if you're talking about hero models i think HoN does comes up with good alt. avatars once in a while. but again, they're very inconsistent design and quality-wise. also the alt design has become radically different from the original hero already and have crazy themes like high tech and robots, sexy girls fanservice and those stupid themes like songkran or football. making the game look so rojak with so many clashing design and themes. older original models like hammerstorm or legionnaire or even the original scout look so cacat with their weird proportion, stance and low quality model while newer alts and heroes some very smooth with less comical design. 2 human can look so different in size and proportion that it appears like they don't belong in the same game.
