If you're on non-G version, you'll be stuck on 2.3.3 atleast until Galaxy Note release in M'sia. Then probably Samsung will update straight to 2.3.5 for SGSII non-G.

Nothing much really. The phone works prefectly with both version. And yes, ICS will eventually comes to SGSII as it has been confirmed by Samsung already

No, SGSII still haven't receive ICS yet. :-)
AFAIK portable hotspot feature is available since Froyo already or is it since Eclair (cant remember, sorry).
A few ICS features that SGSII or Note cannot use - such as Android Beam as both phones dont have NFC (except Korean version). Others such as Face Detection Lock can be use as both phones have front facing camera.

Local SME don't have white non-G version. You can get only AP set for white non-G version.
