2 - http://androidflip.com/install-android-2-3...stalling-guide/ (files needed)

and will it wipe everything on my s2 ?

Guys, anyway to disable the homescreen feature on 2.3.5 where when you swipe at the last home screen will bring you back to the first homescreen ? I find it quite annoying.

u must be joking right?

this phone is...THE FUTURE.

ok...that was a lil' exaggerated but u get my drift hehe

The future doesn't mean ICS is ready for it ma...
Just like you have the most powerful rig in the world, but can you install Win8 in it ? No, because it's not ready for public release yet. biggrin.gif

EDIT : The example maybe wrong, but yeah, you get what I mean right. wink.gif

It is not a theme nor a skin. It is a launcher. Meaning a program/app that you see when you start up with all your widget, shortcut, wallpaper, app drawer etc.
To me it's a skin, where the theme sits on top of the skin, just like ADW have lots of different themes.
But in the end, it's A FRICKIN' LAUNCHER.

Okay thanks for paying attention, I wanna ask do I need to wipe everything if I'm downgrading from 2.3.5 to 2.3.3. I'll fash to official ROM btw.

And I'll take this time to post my thoughts about this thread.
Since this phone is quite a popular phone, so users are increasing everyday, and new users come in everday and look at this thread. And when new users need some help, they'll directly post their question up here and hope for answers.
But unfortunately the first page of this thread has "so much" information in it that seniors here tend to just call them to read the first page before asking. I know I know, it's annoying to replying something to someone which the answer is dead obvious and can be found on the first page right ? But do you know how it feels to get "shoot" (I don't really know if "shoot" is the right way to describe or not. biggrin.gif ) when you're coming here asking for help ?
Okay, yes the first page has lots of information, I've also scrolled through the first page before, but do you know being a newbie at this thread and to find a tiny little info on the first page feels like finding a neddle in a haystack ? The first page is FILLED with words and the wall of text will make any new users rclxub.gif , unlike if you're a senior in this thread who's familliar with the thread will just go there directly and do not need to read every single word of the first page to find the info needed.

So yeah, that's my thoughts about this thread and I do apologize first if I offended anyone of you and excuse my English because I'm still a form student.

Thanks for your time and I hope this thread will be improved. biggrin.gif

I know what you want to say but sometimes newbie just want someone to spoon feed them, that's why uncle benny put guide on first page so everyone can read and understand it.

if after you guys have read it and still lost, just ask the the question we here will help u biggrin.gif  tongue.gif

Yea, I know that some seniors are nice but some are not, some will just directly shoot you and say it's on the first page and I will not be amused that the post above this will get the same answer too. laugh.gif

But removing the spoilers will make the post and page hella long.
But in the end for this thread besides providing lots of useful info make it hassle-free for newbies too.

I'm also a newbie a few month ago and still a newbie to android. Wanna know what I did? I read everything on first page not once but a whole lots of time that I can't even count anymore. Plus reading past post and thread version. including stuff on XDA. it takes time and didn't do it all in one go but finally I manage to read it all. trust me, its not that hard and it helps a lot. I read the first page before I got the phone and after.

and I know the seniors here did that as well before they become senior. So, you can just imagine their frustration when a newbie come here simply asking for every single thing without even reading the first page beforehand.

This are my thoughts.
*
But my question is, is it really THAT hard to explain small little simple things to a newbie? (Well implying that the problem is rather small.) And not many people have much time to read those posts as well as those in XDA, I know slowly but surely, but many people came for short, direct answers if they do not plan to keep up with this thread and chat along users in this thread.

depending on the question. for example, how to root my phone?, how can I flash original firmware?
These type of questions where all the answer are already been handed on a silver platter by uncle benny.
do you expect user here to write down the instructions all over again just for your sake?

read the the first page, don't understand a certain part then you can ask here, isn't that more convenient for you and people here to help you? (you here as in general, not you tongue.gif )

Added on November 10, 2011, 10:39 pmand be courteous, people here are not paid to be anyone personal helper notworthy.gif

Yea I agree on this. For that even Google can answer. No need to scroll through kilometers of info on the front page. laugh.gif

QUOTE(Bugeca @ Nov 10 2011, 10:43 PM)
You really need to find some time to read coz at least you will show some appreciation to the time Uncle Benny and other "seniors" spent compiling and contributing the first page.
*
I know what you mean but as I said, not many people have that much time to read and scroll through that page. Personally I do read the first page and when I got confuse, I'll ask here and often I will be ignored, that's how the SEX!!! image came. laugh.gif laugh.gif

its not that hard to explain small little things. in my case, yeah i'll explain to them. the thing that is hard for us senior members, is to respond to questions like "how to root my phone", "do i need root" or some sort of same questions that require instructions. if the question is whats the difference between rom and kernel, what is baseband, sure i can guide you. but for instructions, a big no no for me.

in the world of 2004-2007, you post a new thread dedicated for simple question, no one will flame/shoot you, but now people improves along the technology, guides are everywhere. Hence, in certain forums, got sticky for starters. when i was modding my psp, there was no single sticky yet, and i even make my own guide and people direct to my thread.

so yeah, read first before asking unless it is so urgent~~ urgent rooting your phone? no thats not urgent, if you are in hurry, dont root yet and find a free time. no one forcing you to flash/root or anything, so read the information available first.

oh and yeah, if you dont want to read all, just find the relevant one. you want root? search for root keywords. its that easy~~
*
Yes I understand how you feel as well as other seniors in this thread feels but maybe I'm still not a senior in this thread yet, but time will tell. biggrin.gif

And one more piece of advise, please don't ignore users. sad.gif I always get ignored in this thread, well I don't know maybe the first page got it's answer but ignoring is just sad.gif

Okay back to the question why I'm here.
I'm planning to downgrade my 2.3.5 to 2.3.3 and I wanna know is it just flash normally using Odin or need to wipe everything, yes I tried Ctrl+F on first page and Google didn't give me answers. blush.gif

if you refer to antt00 post #2579 you'll find the answer is YES, please do a wipe first before you flash any roms., be it custom or stock roms. Always wipe then only you flash a new rom.
*
Okay, thanks I will refer.

QUOTE(Slekerz @ Nov 10 2011, 11:15 PM)
Someone i think just answer your question, just wipe first if you want to downgrade to 2.3.3, you on custom rom or stock rom?, in custom rom just flash using recovery...or just use odin if you on stock rom.
*
I'm on stock 2.3.5 KI4

Why do you wanna downgrade? You using G version?
*
Non-G, I find on 2.3.5 the transition is kinda laggy and when you add the task manager widget the homescreen will become slightly choppy. (Slightly as in quite obviously noticable.) And the blue glow on the browser sucks. biggrin.gif

Good thing is they fixed the overheating issue though.

im a half-baked s2 senior, my understanding is that basically i think changing roms u just need flash it with CWM since its the only way i know is using cwm. generally, its better to wipe cache/partition/data (thru the cwm) before u flash a new rom, also thru cwm.

just remember to back up contacts, sms, apps BEFORE doing the above thru respective apps

regarding 2.3.5 to 2.3.3 i would take it as just changing new roms im sure its not hazardous unless some ppl here start warning you but i doubt it is hazard

sry if i hadnt been much help
general note:
i get used being ignored but i think many ppl here feels the same in life. the world has always been unfair. it was there first, it didnt owe u anything so i just get used to it (the shits of life) and be alittle bit independent. we cant complain about life because some ppl r luckier, some is bad it's just sad so its just how u deal with it that makes whether ur life is worth it or not...
*
Okay while still being a partially complete n00b in flashing, means I need to download the firmware file and include the tick on "re-partition" on Odin ? (Sorry not familliar with CWM.) And thanks for the advice, as they say, "reality hits you hard bro."

QUOTE(del_Piero10 @ Nov 10 2011, 11:22 PM)
one thing i dont get it about the screen protector, how can you guys install it with out any trapped bubble? last time i got the steinhill (sorry if incorrect spelling) free with my casing. tried to install it on my own, end up throw it away...
*
Use some credit card or some hard card to push away air-bubbles while applying it. biggrin.gif

Dun use task manager widget. It is known to causes lag. Without that widget I am sure 2.3.5 will be smoother than 2.3.3 also with more updated drivers. Blue scroll cannot do anything about it.
*
I'm still considering whether to flash or not to flash, but after using a week since I got the S2 I really can tell although without the task manager widget the transition performance decreased.

It makes me feel that 2.3.3 for S2 is like the perfect match, while others after 2.3.3 is not that "complete" if you know what I mean. biggrin.gif
Or maybe this KI4 is just a leaked version so I can't expect much from it.
