im attracted to MIUI rom at the moment~ drool.gif

but the flashing step seems more complicated than flashing stock roms via Odin... sweat.gif
*
Just add a few steps only ma. tongue.gif

- Flash stock rom
- Flash custom kernel
- Flash MIUI rom
- ???
- PROFIT!

Hi to all
I used odin to change from froyo to gingerbread following this thread it was a great help, I did that 2/3 months ago, now my phone seems lag a lot and sometime force close on contacts and sometime some games also lags,
What could be the possible reason? I use themes but with or without the lag is present,
Usually ram used around 260 to 80 out of 329.
What should I do to stop this should i Overclock my CPU? Though I did not root my phone.
Please Help
Thanks
Tuhin

You're using which Gingerbread rom? XXJVT is the latest for your info.

To reduce the lag, you should consider

1) Flashing a custom kennel, or/and
2) Flashing a custom rom, or/and
3) Flashing the ThunderBolt tweaks, or/and
4) Overclocking

I am In XXJVQ

What is the latest Custom kennel and how can in flash it?

If i flash the kennel i can be a root user is it?

than i can overclock it?

thanks for the info.
*
Once you flash a custom kernel, you'll be rooted automatically. You might want to try the Semaphore kernel since you can overclock it. Not every kernel is overclockable.

ya download alredi..can guide how to apply it?tq..

Open the Script Manager, go to bolt_scripts and pick CM7/MIUI or I9000 depending on your rom. Then, tick 'Run as root' and 'Run at boot', then tap the 'Run' button. Don't have to repeat the process for every reboot, since 'Run at boot' is ticked.

This Thunderbolt (will kena sued by Apple or not? tongue.gif) looks tasty. I'm on custom kernel + ext4 as per my siggy. Can I flash this over?

I like the libsqlite improvement. Hope my WhatsApp can be no lag anymore. biggrin.gif
*
The libsqlite addon is tempting, but prone to corruption, so I didn't flash it. sad.gif

thanx for your help...maybe pikachu can add this to his page..helpful for noob like me.. nod.gif

done the thunderbolt...for 3G and and bin tweaks, still need to mount storage and data before applying it + remount using script manager?
*
Mount system and data once, then flash all necessary files you need in the cwm without rebooting (reboot after you've flashed everything you need). If you have ticked 'Run as boot', there's no need for you to remount using the Script Manager. smile.gif

so it will clean everything? if like that..system files will leave like that or revert into froyo back?
*
Yes will clean everything, but your firmware will not change. To revert back to Froyo, you have to flash a Froyo rom.

Anyone have step how to flash the thunderbolt???
Abit blur after reading all..
*
This is how I flash:-

1) Boot into CWM, go to mounts and storage, and mount /system and /data
2) Go to install zip from sdcard
3) Flash restore zip
4) Flash ThunderBolt! zip
5) Flash the addons (there are 3 - pick the one you want)
6) Reboot
7) Go to Script Manager (it's an app which can be found in the market). From there go to bolt_scripts, tick 'Run as root' and 'Run at boot'. Finally tap the 'Run' button. Don't have to remount next time you reboot since you have ticked 'Run at boot'.

Am I right? laugh.gif

Yes, the remount script, only need to tick Run as Root and Run as Boot. It will autorun the script at boot.
So can skip this step right?

Do this at every boot, as mount points are reset to its default as set by the type of your lagfix. Voodoo (from what I am using will set barriers for /data and atime for every mount point except /system, /data, /cache, /dbdata which puts a slight risk at your disk for using atime.

but there's this clause... sad.gif

this means MIUI only works on Froyo? sad.gif

0: Be sure that you're based on a Froyo FW! CRUCIAL.

1: Load these files:
a) galaxy-efsbackup.zip / Mirror
b) cm7-galaxys-initial-kernel.tar / Mirror
c) MIUI MCGv5.3 / Mirror
d) speedmod-kernel-k13c-500hz.tar / Mirror
*
Nope current MIUI rom works on GB bootloader. MIUI MCG is an outdated rom, has been discontinued months ago lol. If you want a stock MIUI rom, check out the miuiandroid website. For custom MIUI rom, check the XDA/Galnet forum.

For current MIUI roms, to flash, all you have to do are

1) Flash a custom kernel to your GB rom (so that you have CWM recovery)
2) Flash the MIUI rom zip

That's all. smile.gif
