and here in lies the issue; some Gooners are not contend with challenging for the Top 4 i.e. achieving Champions League qualification. while I am realistic enough to realize that only 1 team can win the league every season, my minimum expectation from the team is to challenge for it. qualification for the Champions League is not the minimum expectation for some Gooners, me included. however I can see why that (the CL qualification) will be seen as enough by some basing from our (poor) start to the season, but nonetheless my minimum expectation to the team this season remains the same as per what I expected each season

that being said, given choices my January signings will be players who will move us towards that expectation i.e. challenging for the league title. whether that kind of players will be available or not is different question altogether though. failing that (major signing(s) to move us towars league title challenging side), major stepping up (yes, I'm looking at you Aaron, Kieran, Theo & Carl in particular) and high consistency level (Gervinho, Alex Song, Theo again & At8ta) from the team are required

Totally agree with you. I'm wondering what is the expectation of fellow gooners here now (maybe we should make a poll)

Frankly speaking, I do not set the target to be champions. Top4 is the realistic target for me, especially after considering the weak "pickup" we got in the beginning of the season.

Although Champions is not my target, "challenging" the champions sounds interesting and doable
Before recommending any players (should they come), what is our currently weakest positions/players?
Our fullbacks are full of troubles Santos is new and doing fine but not good/fast enough becoming the best to challenge the Champions. Meanwhile, we are only being lucky that Sagna long absence didn't cause us too much.
In short, there is a lack of consistency and continuity in these areas.

What really makes me worrying is our RW (or TW14 to be specific). Although TW14 has started picking up his game, I still do not think he's the first XI materials yet due to his inconsistency. I'd rather to have Rosicky or Arshavin to rotate with TW14. In contrast, the other side of the field occupied by Gervinho is more exciting to watch; despite being a newcomer.
