First,
Is it a new car? eg: havn't been to the first 1k KM service how was your driving style? full throttle all the time? if it's a new car, it's normal. the good/average FC will only get better after the first few service. if you're always full throttle all the time but expect to have prius like FC, that's just not gona happen. hope that helps |

Well, you dint want a car that would turtle so easily and you wanted the more "STABLE" car.So there you have it!
Even if myvi doesnt hit 500km on a full tank of petrol.its still way better than this saga... This post has been edited by kevin23: Oct 29 2011, 03:51 PM |

QUOTE(terence257 @ Oct 30 2011, 12:17 AM) have to observe. normally it will get better after the first 1k service, and gradually better till the 10k km service.Secondly, what fuel you pump? and lastly, 2,500 rpm for FLX if normal driving is actually quite high. 2,000 rpm is already sufficient to propel the car up to 70-80km/h. Try to ease of on the throttle a little bit. Remember, the advantage of CVT is that you can control the engine rpm you wish to travel on. |

fc is known to be a little high on the current model of Proton Saga. However, generally if you drive like shit, you get fc like shit. No amount of modding can help on that.

QUOTE(Shenanigans2011 @ Oct 30 2011, 04:30 PM) I have read multiple threads on Saga BLM's fuel consumption in LYN and many other motoring thread. This issue has been an ongoing issue with Saga since the first BLM model. I thought with the Saga FLX we can expect 1liter = 15km. YES, I am very sure it can be done. I'm driving like a madman (or like shit as abubin said) and using RON95 and still get an average 11-12km/L 50 city 50 highway. That 15km/L figure is PLAUSIBLE. |

for now FLX is still very little on the road and a majority of Saga owners in this forum are either driving the BLM or the FL. There's only a handful members which owns the FLX for more than a month.
and, Campro is a notorious fuel drinker when it is new. That is a fact and cant escape from it. My first tank when I get my car new is only about 230-240km. Figure shows a bit of improvement after first service. |

My mileage still sucks. Mileage is 12,800+ km
Still getting roughly 130 km for every RM 30 (RM 0.23/km). That's like what...roughly 8.23km/L I drive like an auntie averaging at 55 kph at 2200 rpm in Penang also like that. Apala... My bro's Mazda 6 2.5 SVT is doing RM 0.25/km How absurd. I want to show my "national pride" but my engine koyakla. This post has been edited by Enclave Recruit: Oct 31 2011, 03:14 AM |

I would sell the car without hesitation unless your usage (mileage wise) is superb light use... 1 day only run 5km to go across the street buying some thing.. i agree. my friend who bought it in 2009 also same fc. i sent back to service centre many time earlier in 2008/9but cant do much. sc staff told me they recd several complaints also. For normal use.. it would incur much cost compare to buying a newer car with better enjoyment. |

6.3km/l is ridiculous, even for a CamtakPro Saga BLM AT. It is definitely not normal.

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Oct 10 2012, 10:09 PM) I think its about time to blog about how to save petrol liao 1) FC mostly depending on traffic condition, it could be recently traffic got heavier 2) Go wash your pollen filter, make sure its clean so you get more aircond. Try to reduce the thermostat to minimal. Do remember our 2000cc worth SANDEN compressor took out almost 1/3 of the torque just to power up cold air in the cabin. You can blast your blower speed at 4(if you can take it), just be very careful on the thermostat will do. 3) Don't stay in the car and blow aircond. Refer no.2. My normal blower speed at 3. Thermostat is half during the day, and minimal at night. 4) It's not 3krpm shift up or 2.5krpm. It's how long does it take to reach 3krpm. Try to reduce a little bit of your acceleration. For example usually within 1 second you hit 3krpm, immediately shift up, this is a good way to lose petrol. Can try take 2 seconds to hit 3krpm, follow by 3 seconds. You'll be surprise by practicing this alone already save you bunch of fuel. 5) Sometimes it's not 5th gear 2krpm all the way can save petrol. If uphill slope, let the cruising speed slow down a little bit. If needed, downshift and maintain slightly higher RPM, you'll be surprise it actually save petrol with higher RPM on low gear, rather than low RPM in higher gear when going uphill. 6) From far already see traffic light red light, still go and "bem! bem!" show off, ofcoz waste petrol la. I normally declutch and let the car roll until stop. If suddenly turn green light, drop gear and continue acceleration. Basically thats about it. Lazy to explain technical alreay |

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Jun 10 2012, 02:23 PM) Out of all the gauges, fuel level gauge is 1 of the most unpredictable gauge. It's float weight NOT calibrated, some car lighter, some heavier. My case is heavy, tend to give me illusion of petrol saving. When car is travelling, my fuel gauge doesn't go down. My 1st bar normally can last up to 80km before it lesap. After I stop my engine, the float settled then it become 1 bar less. Some lighter float like dares case, up hill, hilang 1 bar, downhill 1 bar extra, go flat road, back to normal again. Really can't tell how many km before the alert indicator lite up. |

you guys can test this first :
1) always use minimum aircond temperature. saga aircond is fuel sarker. 2) light foot pedal 3) use petronas 95 fuel when highway driving. town driving whatever fuel is no difference. 4) pedal to the metal will suck ur petrol more. 5) reduce idling, traffic jam. |

Hi
wanna ask the sifu here... is this normal? Proton saga BLM Auto (reg around 2008/2009). About 40km will use up "1 kotak of fuel". 70+km will use up "2 kotak of fuel". Everytime I pump full tank. I service regularly ie 10000 will send to service centre This post has been edited by aikning: Jul 18 2014, 05:17 PM |

QUOTE(aikning @ Jul 18 2014, 05:14 PM) Hi The kotak does not translate how many km you can go. I can get as high as over hundred km or as low as 50km below for 1 kotak. Its depend on traffic condition, driving style, aircon temp setting, car condition and many circumstance. wanna ask the sifu here... is this normal? Proton saga BLM Auto (reg around 2008/2009). About 40km will use up "1 kotak of fuel". 70+km will use up "2 kotak of fuel". Everytime I pump full tank. I service regularly ie 10000 will send to service centre Back to your question, you need to refuel full tank back after you fuel meter drop two bar then you know how many litre fuel used for two bar. Only after you do that you can come here to show us again your meter and your fuel receipt to know your km/L. From that we can only know your car normal or not. |

Thanks... so whatever it is, it will be normal situations because it will still DEPENDENT on "traffic condition, driving style, aircon temp setting, car condition and many circumstance".... afterall, it seems like it is ONLY me (and some others) who will drive in KL roads. Anyway, thanks for your advice and expertise.Back to your question, you need to refuel full tank back after you fuel meter drop two bar then you know how many litre fuel used for two bar. The picture shown means I have filled up fulled tank and then I reset the mileage to ZERO. And then the car drives for 70+ km and the petrol indicator shows the fuel.Anyway, for any layman, if this is NOT the correct and sane way to measure how many KMs, I will need to go back to primary school. Thank you anyway for your kind advice and expertise. |

And then the car drives for 70+ km and the petrol indicator shows the fuel. As someone mentioned earliar, you need to refuel it, then only you will know how petrol is used. For example, now you go refuel until full tank. Say you pump in 10L, then 70.1km /10l= 7.1km/l.Anyway, for any layman, if this is NOT the correct and sane way to measure how many KMs, I will need to go back to primary school. Thank you anyway for your kind advice and expertise. So to get average, just drive until fuel light blinks (or sometime before that, don't drive until empty..not neccessary), then refuel to full tank. The distance travelled since your last reset divide by the full tank you have pumped will be your KM/L. In traffic jam, you are basically going at 0km/l. Nothing can help. Except god-car. If drive god-car, no need to use fuel wan. |
