May I know where to connect the earth wire when installing the PLCE downlights? My downlights only come with Live and neutral wire (red and white)....

Is it necessary to connect the earth wire? If don't connect, what will happens?

Downlight no need earth... coz it is on the ceiling, u can't easily touch it... jz like fluorescent light, also no earth... but... if u really want to connect earth, jz find a screw on the metal body, tide the earth wire to it..

Just screw to the casing screw. Safety first.

Only finish up than you ask?

You don't know when the bad effect happen till it too late. Don't compromise with the safety.

The whole metal casing is the earth. That is why no earth wire. You just need to attach the earth wire to the casing 1 of the screw.

When there is leakage, it go through the casing to the earth.

Malaysia standard, all electrical appliances with accessible metal parts should be earthed. Most of china made light fitting doesn't come with earth connection, but u still need to at least, touch the earth cable to the unpainted part of the fitting.

There's no harm if you do not install the earth wire, the lights still do what it does, but there's the danger to user. If the light fitting is energized, either due to pest or human error, it won't be detected by the ELCB. Anyone touching the light will eventually be electricuted. To re-do or not, its up to u.
