Really appreciate if anyone already successful installed his/her Battlefield 3 and able to play it smoothly, kindly post your guide on how you install Battlefield 3 include those patches. I find out a lot of user having problem in installing it, getting errors and etc.

It would be even better if admin stick this post up so everyone can see and share.

I don't know what's the big problem. These are my steps :

0. Sign up for origin and log in.
1. Open DVD Case and insert into drive.
2. Run autostart.
3. Click next.
4. Enter DVD Key.
5. Click next.
6. Origin says it's "downloading" the game but zero network activity and data is "downloaded" from the DVD.
7. Change disk.
8. Click next.
9. Patch Downloads automatically.
10. Play the effing game.

How about the PunkBuster and Battlelog Web Plugin? Any idea?

Appreciate your sharing, so everyone can read and follow. Some even installed without Origin running in their system.

punkbuster is bundle with all battlefield game, when you install battlefield the isntaller will install the punkbuster together

as for the plugin for battle log, when you want to access the battle log the browser will prompt for install plugin, just click and install like how you install other plugin

Get a small HDD for Windows. I used to have a dedicated 80GB just for windows (now 60GB SSD) so that if anything I can just reformat and keep my games/programs in my other HDD

i think there is few steps but it would not be any difference

1. Update Origin (download latest origin version for BF3)
2. Insert DVD -> Click Install (it will ask for cd key etc all self explanatory)
3. Wait for 1/2 hour @ 6.5MB/s
4. Upon completion; make sure your internet is still on as it will check for patch... download the 500MB patch (if you were disconnected at this time, do step 2 again.. I had 1 hour chat with EA looking for the patch link)
5. start the game as usual

Okay, just to share how I install mine.

1) I had Origin installed in my PC, latest version.
2) Redeem my CD Key in Origin
3) Put in Disc 1, select Language, click Install.
4) Nothing appear, no response from DVD, suspect DVD DOA.
5) Uninstall Origin, delete all Origin folders and settings.
6) Restart PC.
7) Put in Disc 1, select Language, click Install, Origin setup auto come up.
8) Finish install Origin, auto update Origin will perform.
9) Open up Origin and select on Battefield 3, click Download.
10) Actually it don't download from internet, it read from the DVD so you can see 9MB/s transfer rate for the download speed.
11) Put in Disc 2 when it request.
12) Done installation, auto update Battlefield 3 patch.
13) Done patching, start playing!
14) When launching the game, it crashed and saying DirectX issue.
15) Change Battlefield 3 compatibility to Vista Service Pack 2, working perfectly.

Yea Origin activation is down at the moment. Thank God I managed to activate it abit earlier before it went down. Wuhuhu..

But theres still problem with the multiplayer punkbuster thingy. I keep on getting kicked out of game by admins after I got into the game for a few minutes. I tried the link at the 'news' section in battlelog and I still get disconnections.

Now I can only play non-punkbuster servers, so far I've seen no hackers, yet. Choi..

Weird.

By the way my step is a bit wrong I heard that. Some people might say if you redeem your CD Key in Origin and it will consider as digital download. But seems like it "download" from my DVD. rclxub.gif

Repair Install stuck at Finalizing Update (100%)
Click on the X in the top right hand corner of that window.
Browse to your BF3 folder and you will find “bf3.exe_DiP_STAGED“.
Re-name it to bf3.exe.
Restart Origin.

Came across some forum and someone posted this, not sure it is legit or not, gonna try when i reach home tonight.

here's my problem:

i can't launch the game through the origin client (bought the game from gamersgate and redeemed it through the origin client). it brings up the release date check, but doesnt launch the game after the check (i'm in australia now)

so i tried to launch the game through the battlelog webplugin, and it tells me that the game is not installed, even though it already shows up as being installed in the origin client

can anyone help?

Ok here's some additional stuff to take note for those of you still having problems :

1. Try to use google chrome and make sure you download and install the latest plugin for battlelog. It'll be in the notification.

2. It's in the battlelog forums, first preference is try chrome, then firefox, then I.E. If you already installed the battlelog plugin for firefox and it's your first time trying with chrome, redownload the plugin.

3. If you just installed it, make sure you restart your browser before trying to load the game.

4. If you have other plugins/toolbars that are running on your system, that may be quite heavy for the browser. Disable them.

5. Disable windows firewall and other installed antispam blockers when in doubt.

1- delete partition primary disk

3- format
4- install Win7
5- install all necessary drivers
6- install catalyst 11.10 ( if u use Nvidia card, then instal latest nvidia driver)
7- install all Win7 update FIRST (incld. SP1 and IE9)
8- make IE9 as default browser (u can opt for other browser later after game is installed)
9- install BF3
1st - Origin
2nd - BF3
3rd -Updates
4th - browser plug-in for battlelog

Up to today no CTD's\freeze\stutters and been quite smooth all the way for both SP and MP with average frame rate 65FPS ( 1920x1060 - High setting Asus DCull 6970)

I have my Origin with latest update and latest download from website, put in DVD disc and it got no response. So I deleted my Origin and let the DVD install Origin itself, it works perfectly.

1. install Origin (latest version), create account if you do not have an existing account.
2. once you logged in. Do not close or log out of Origin.
3. insert disc
4. select language, You will then be prompted for the product key, key in it
5. Although it shows "Downloading..." it is actually downloading from the DVD, not from the Internet.
