Yeah...update only for India and Singapore at the moment sad.gif

Yeah I'm having the same issue....gps can't connect and very innacurate :'(

Anyone else having GPS issues?
*
Yeah bro, I am also having the same problem. Is it because of the MAP or The APP NOKIA DRIVE or GPS device inside the phone?

good to know there are others...im not sure whats the problem  sad.gif

now plus you i know of 4 people with this problem so plus me thats 5 phones with this issue...

should we all go to nokia center and ask what is wrong?
*
i already went to nokia care center 2 times. first they said it's nokia drive problem. so they re-install it. the 2nd time they said cannot be as all other phone sold doesn't have problem like this when i asked is there any cases similar like this from other customer.

a bit irritated as they don't have the drive to help me solve the problem as i can only test the gps once im on the road. at least please test it themselves so they can see the problem better right? now, i will go there 3rd time and ask that they fix this once for all or replace me with another phone with working gps.

but before i do that, anyone has successfully fix this problem?

looks like our only option would be to go to nokia and demand a replacement  sad.gif
i dont thinks anyone has yet....however there is someone im chatting with on the nokia forums that sent his phone to nokia already and is waiting on them to see what happens...
*
Ok, appreciate if u can update me here coz i dont want to argue with the nokia fellows about this. If it is proven to be fixed then can confidently go there and say "see, IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PHONE" wink.gif

been following your story.....just curious...so in conclusion, your phone right now cannot perform gps function (nokia maps/drive in a-gps/gps mode) , or otherwise?
*
Seriously its crazy. GPS in Nokia MAP if you are not moving is ok, but when you started to move around and combined with using Nokia Drive, it will start positioning you here and there. I tried to wait until Nokia Drive 2.0 to see if it's the apps problem, but still when using offline mode in Nokia Drive 2.0, it was the same. When a few of us in the forum experienced the same thing, then suspected hardware problem. And when somebody send his unit at a Nokia Care Center and the motherboard got replaced, then BOOM! Jackpot! So I'm sure it's hardware related.

Please take note I try to rectify everything which might be apps related problems such as uninstalling Nokia Maps while retaining Nokia Drive and uninstalling/installing map no less than 10 times.

Just picked my phone and in posting this from the car, THE GPS STILL DOESNT WORK!!!!!!!!

it at least gave me a gps lock a few times but it was innacurate....im back to the same problem...will have to send it back to Nokia tomorow

Nokia didn't change motherboard but they told me they "upgraded the software" and the problem is fixed. My firmware is back to 8107

arghhh angry now >:(
*
same kes when i sent to OU Nokia Care Centre. The reason in the Work Order they gave is that I have to enable data all the time. The conclusion that I can get for this is either the technician checking my phone is incompetent(didn't know about nokia lumia 710 specs and software upgrade) or lazy. I conclude that my 710 just got A-GPS only but not GPS as when I tested with GPSInfo apps under the sky it just show fix location with A-GPS. When I put airline mode, it cannot get fix.

One question though, GPS(not A-GPS) will still work even though in airline mode rite?

If I want to change my unit with another replacement unit, how to do it? I grew tired with this sending to Nokia Centre where I am more knowledgeable about the phone than the technician. Tired of getting angry and going back and fro many times and not getting my phone fixed...

let me teach u what to do?

Step 1 Find someone using Nokia Lumia 710 then record video showing whether their phone can get a gps lock.
Step 2 When u send to NCC this time show them the video and then show them your phone if best do a video as well.
Step 3 that will resolved your issue and please specify you want it to be working like the video.

I dont own a 710 so its harder for me to assist but it works fine on a nokia lumia 800  if best u can get a few friends using 710 having the same issue to go together. Nokia do not do one to one replacement.
*
Good idea friend, I might just do that. Look, I'm not condemning all of Nokia Centre's staff or management, just that this issue is making me grieve unnecessarily. If they do a thorough test; bring my phone on the road and activate Nokia Drive, they can see the what the problem is. But I understand, maybe they got their procedure on testing or what.

You must understand they dont repair only one phone there have repair many phones a day maybe when he test it works fine then when it gives u to u it didnt work. Best you do a video and show them the real issue. Just imagine everyday numerous customer make similar complaints this cannot that cannot but when send to NCC they find out there no issue. So best you recreate the problem and show them so they understand

a picture tells a thousand words.
*
sent it again to NCC OU. this time, I used GPSInfo to record the reading on my Lumia 710 and my fiancee's Lumia 800 and snap pics of both. Then I showed it to the NCC's complaint receiver. And they decided to replace the GPS receiver in my phone; maybe because it's the 2nd time I send my phone and also they got a clearer picture of my problems.

a picture tells a thousand words indeed ;D

Whoever has the same problem but find it hard to explain to NCC's personnel, you can take this pics and explain to them:

Attached Image Attached Image

As you can see, my Lumia 710 only has A-GPS but the Lumia 800 has full GPS, so it is hardware error. These details were taken on a clear sky, where I stand around almost 30 mins with both phones on hand.

Technical issues aside, so hows the sale of lumias in malaysia? will it challenge android supremacy? but it's apparent in kl that most of the phone vendors recommend android; in this case samsung galaxy w. but i just dont know, i admit android is good and interesting, but i was more interested with windows OS. maybe because it's different...

as a sales person, sure i will praise the one who can earn me more commission + incentive. all abt marketing strategy, altho samsung hv their very "dirty" rules, their advertisement too powerful compared to nokia. what do u think if nokia not goin to update their current lumia series to Apollo? sell your current mango's hp?
*
hmmmm, maybe not, hold on it for another year or 2 perhaps, then sell and buy nokia with apollo ;D but of coz, hope that they will upgrade all the windows 7.5 os phone to apollo when it is out...

Actually I already spoken to the technician on the phone. When I collect the phone at the counter, the admin told me the technician contacted Nokia Malaysia about the problem and insist the 710 only support A-GPS. I said to myself SCREW IT!!! I just took back the 710.
*
how about sending to another nokia centre bro? because they put into their website that the lumia 710 support A-GPS AND GPS. sometimes the laziness of a few people indirectly affect sales of the product as a whole...such an unfortunate things to happen...

did my lumia starting to fault?
*
i did have the same problem. try install GPSINFO and then check your gps either a-gps or full gps under open sky. if a-gps all the way, its hardware issue, send your phone to nokia care centre. you can use the pics that i've posted thats showing the different of phone that only has a-gps to full gps.

yes you can, but you must edit the the mp3 so that it is a ringtone file and it must be below 1mb

Or not just download YouRang from Marketplace and you can edit directly any song from youtube.

Added on May 22, 2012, 10:42 amLets list down what kind of app, maybe we can share which one is really useful. For me so far:

Skyscanner - Flight schedule
YouRang - Create ringtone directly from Youtube
YouTube Pro - You can download youtube videos and play it offline

So guys, we now know that Apollo/WP 8 we will not be getting. Instead we will get WP7.8 which will have the same start screen as WP8.

What I felt about this? After reading so many articles and blogs about the revelation of WP8 and existing WP7.5 user would not be getting it, I don't mind. I feel that right now my trusty Lumia 710 serves it purpose as a smart phone that I wanted to have at the time of buying and all the apps is usable and on par with Iphone or Android. In fact I am excited as the new UI of WP7.8 looks very nice and made it more different that standard Iphone/Android. And with WP 7.8, there might be more updates coming, lets keep our hopes up wink.gif

Well guys, what do you think?
