Hi guys, was playing the lumia 800 in the nokia store and i found the phone pretty cool, especially its windows os and integrated features. However, those are only first impressions..mind if i ask how's your experience using the phone overall? Is it worth buying? I'm really considering it now especially since its cheaper than say galaxy S2 or nexus.

That totally depends on how the users use the phone really. If you don't mind the performance but admires the looks and features of the WP then go ahead and go get yourself one.

Coming from an Android user myself after using it for half-a-year the phone works great and the customization is just fits my liking but after couple of months something just doesn't feel that awesome at all, the phone starts to slow down a lot thanks to the background apps running, you actually need a task killer app to kill those apps to save the performance and battery life.

Android is a good OS but sadly the flaws of the OS is like some pinch of salt to the wound, what the mobile phone manufacturers are trying to sell you is the hardware performance not the OS. Now, I don't want go so deep into this.

For Windows Phone, of course it does have its own flaws but OS itself isn't perfect yet (Hell, which OS is?), but it does handles perfectly on my hand, very responsive and fluid it is. If you don't mind about the imperferction of the app Marketplace I'd say go ahead.

But still it has to come down to the earth that which phone that really suits you. smile.gif

Just my own opinion anyway!  notworthy.gif

Thanks alot bro! So to summarise what you said..the OS is fluid at first, but can lag after using it for couple of months. Also, the marketplace isn't as big as iOS or Android. However, regarding the marketplace, do you mean that it is lacking in games OR performance apps, cuz I don't really mind if there's not many games but performance apps (like twitter third-party apps, evernote, pulse/rss feed readers, etc) is more important for me, as well as the battery life.

mind asking what phone you're using ? If you're willing to loose all those android great customizing, ios apps. and willing to adapt to newest platform with great integrated features, then its a worth buying.

using android phone, not really interessted in iPhone. I don't really find the customizing feature really useful so it's okay for me. The main worry is the apps in windows OS and the battery life.

I'm using Dell Venue Pro, but I guess this rings true for every Windows Phone out there. No need to worry much about battery life IMHO. It'll last through the day.

Performance apps? Evernote, 3rd party Twitter, Whatsapp all available in the marketplace. I'd say all that you need is there. I've been using WP7 for several months now, and I can say most "performance" apps is available, or at least, its replacement. Plus, they look much better (Metro UI is sexy!)

So, in short, App wise, its good enough. And don't forget, its growing, at a very fast rate.

And don't forget, WP7 really smooth and stable! A far cry from the old WM6 days and Android.

I'd say based on what you said, WP7 is really suitable for you nod.gif

I will skip the goods since you know them.
Bugs/Cons :-

1. Sometimes cannot end-call and the phone will restart
2. No Tethering
3. No Viber/Skype
4. Incoming Call will only vibrate at the beginning of a ringtone. So if you have a 37 secs ringtone, the phone will only vibrate every 37 secs. By that time, either the telco already cut you off or your will might have already gone in to the Voicemail.
5. Not many apps but the apps are properly QCed like iOS. So you get the consistent UI and experience, compare to Android Apps.

Above are the few points that I dislike...but there is nothing perfect in this world.

hmm..the calling part seems pretty bad :/
no viber but there's still whatsapp right..its just a matter of time till it comes on windows marketplace i think, hopefully haha

Try to look for the MAS app in the Malaysia Marketplace but didn't found any. Is there an official app for MAS in the marketplace? or it just an edited pic?
