Where's a good place to get an N8? It seems stocks are low on the ground at the moment.

Hi guys, I'm getting my n8 on thursday.
May I know how to hack a n8?
As I saw 'hacked n8' required at the front page for those moddings..
And I think that a brand new n8 should come with latest official update right?
*
I'm getting one tomorrow. It comes with Symbian 3; not the latest stuff.

It should have symbian anna upgrade by now. If its still using symbian ^3 make sure to update your phone by typing *#0000# and then option > check for updates
*
OK I will do that, thanks for the tip.

Got my phone 1 day early. Following all the steps outlined by aspire2oo6 to update and reset. Taking forever to install the updates. Do I need to take the warranty card to a Nokia service centre to register or can I do it online?

Making the transition from a dinosaur era Nokia to the N8 is not easy!

And calling up the Nokia Careline was painful - got a lady with a strong filipino accent, can barely make out what she was saying.  Looks like their call centre is in Manila or somewhere else in the Philippines.  I've found it much easier to talk to people in call centres located in Bangalore!

i don't think making call to the NCC will do any help, just physical bring it in as all those on call tech will talk rubbish... shakehead.gif

The filipina lady said no need to do anything. She knew what she was talking about; asked for my phone number, name etc and then I presumed checked in their database. The problem was my brain had to go into overdrive to make out what she was saying. I think the warranty is automatically activated once you set up the phone. The device info and tools screen on Nokia Suite will tell you if your warranty is valid or not.

Added on January 5, 2012, 5:40 pmWhat's a good pdf reader to install for symbian? I tried to instal foxit, but I kept getting the same error message, something about the certificate being invalid.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.

Added on January 6, 2012, 5:38 pmIs there any way I can disable the light off and auto screen lock function on n8? I want the display to be always on when I'm using Sports Tracker to keep track of my pace while doing a run.

Oh false alarm. No idea what it was all about. I connected my phone and Nokia Suite told me there was a software update available, with the usual string of digits, then "Belle" at the end, not "Anna".

When it was all done, everything looked more or less the same lah!

Noob question. When I use sports tracker on my N8, how do I keep the display on all the time while I'm running? I don't want the screen saver to come on or the light to go off and I have to then unlock the damn phone to access the sports tracker display.
