Hmm, now we are tied with Benfica with 8, while Basel is at 5.

If we win our next match against Benfica, we are almost certainly guaranteed a top spot in the group. A draw is also good enough for qualification, provided we avoid defeat at Basel on last day.

the new Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney.. hopefully he'll not stay there, we need our top player on his best position.. though he played quite well last night, and according to SAF, he's our best player.

overall, very average performance. defenders made few numbers of mistakes but luckily the opponent didnt punish it. DDG made one crucial save. all forwards not played well.

but 3 points are all matters. after THAT game, i think i take any kind of win with both hands. its about steadying the ship and regain confidence. consistency and style will come later..

i thought rooney is our best box-to-box player, he is certainly better at supplying the ball rather than finish it himself all of these years, just like in community shield earlier this season where he made an outstanding midfield trio with ando and cleverley with young nani welbeck created fluid attacking upfront. since we have a real finisher chicha and other strikers like berba owen welbeck, i'd prefer to see his energy will be in the position it is needed the most.

yea, its good we can utilize Rooney's energy in the middle, running box to box. He got the vision and a good shot in him. should let him try the playmaker's role

agree, will be defender's wish come true if he plays at cm instead of his best position at top/behind the striker

Just hope that when cleverly is back, we can have a permanent 11 for some time to get the stability for a good run

Rooney as a CM, in 3-men midfielders, i'll say YES..

in our usual 4-4-2 (Rooney pair up front another striker), Rooney is all over the places. he track back, box-to-box, at flanks, and penalty box. so the system are reverting from 4-4-2, to 4-5-1, 4-3-3, or 4-4-1-1. so basically he's the 3rd CM /pseudo /fake CM.

but as a CM, in 2-men midfielders, i'll say NO.. especially against decent opposition. last night, i considered our opponent are minnows. so experimental are allowed and we lack of option last night. only Park or Pogba (or Jones) are the other options.

really? again who will fill in his shoes at the front then?he can still track back, do box to box when he's playing at striker position (which i insist is his best position), while being threatening inside the box, with his shift into deeper CM role, we lost that kind of threat up front

its just sad to see we need a ST to play at CM (sacrificing Rooney yet again)

we hv more option upfront at the moment. the change is a temporary thing only. consider that we are playing smaller side at home i think its fair enaugh for rooney to be playing at CM.

wont call it a sacrifice.. more of bringing out the best out of a team instead of best from individual only

this, just a temporary solution.. options are limited ATM. SAF got Rooney, or Pogba or Park, or Jones in CM spot.. he clearly stated he want to rest Fletcher. while Carrick and Giggs are injured.

so, its the best for the team..

i think SAF also hinted Park will play this Saturday.. Young is injured, so we can expect makeshift XI, like Liverpool or Everton game. not sure the status of our CMs. only Anderson fully fit.
