hehehe
Did we pay the FA again? Good job SAF!

Added on November 17, 2011, 7:23 amGood job from us. Kept quiet throughout the whole case.
Even the usually talkative Evra didn't say a word so far right?

Rafael played in that game huh?

Can't wait to see more of Morrison in the first team. He's seriously good and ready IMO to be thrown in.

Added on November 18, 2011, 8:06 amHis two goals..

QUOTE(dundermifflin @ Nov 21 2011, 01:50 PM)
Ferdinand is going a phase like Giggs endured when he was 30-32 yo. catalogs of hamstring injuries, most pessimistic thought he's done.. he re -invent his game, became a very influential CM for us, came back stronger..

Ferdinand have a long standing back problems. he lost a yard of pace. he need to adapt his game. maybe he need to model his game after Laurent Blanc.

having said that, Solskjaer and G.Neville also have numbers of serious injuries in their early 30s. came back, but their bodies gave up. but still gave telling contributions in their twilight years, especially in dressing room.
*
Unlike Gary/Solskjaer, Rio haven't been out that long with a major injuries. All he gets is a few weeks here and there. He still have a massive role to play. But he needs to accept that he will be rotated around because his body needs rests and we need to give the likes of Evans/Jones/Smalling games to bring them along.

MU evidently fall short on the mid-field part, that's why WR10 these days fills up that place while making Fletcher and Carrick look bad laugh.gif
WR10 can't be in 2 to 3 places at a time, if he play's CM, for sure cannot be CF like he used too.
Sometimes he's overdoing it by being a defender as well  doh.gif  laugh.gif

About Rio, his protege candidate is Jones certainly, but Jones is still young and is allowed to play as attacking CB to able him to gain more understanding about the game. Infact, Jones is encouraged to go forward when the opportunity is provided, this is to enable him to get the experience as a young lad. Later, will become a great CB because he understands the game.

This is similar case to Evra, he was a striker long  before. That why now he is a pretty good (attacking) defender because of the understanding of the attacking force.
*
The only reason why we would ever play/played Rooney in CM is because all our CMs options are out for whatever reasons(suspension, injuries, not 100% fit) as was the case in the few games a few games ago.

Cleverley injured, Fletcher/Carrick recovering, Giggsy and Ando was injured as well during that period. Evidently it was not because our CMs are crap that we played Rooney there. It's the same midfield for the past 4-5 years and Rooney played as a striker(and any attacking positions) in the majority of the games before.

Added on November 23, 2011, 1:11 amIt's only November, we sit second despite the squad being hit by injuries almost every week and already played all of the big boys(granted all but one against Liverpool were at home) and people are talking about us having a transition year? WTF. We just won the bloody league and lose in the CL FINAL to Barca last season. Some people are expecting us to win comfortably with our strikers getting hattricks(one wonder goal each game, by dribbling the every defenders) every game or something? Sheesh.

Not quite the same midfield tho..
Cleverley is emerging and when fit and in form Ando is showing signs of developing and performing into the player we always thought he could be.

Then you have to take into account how the likes of Welbeck and Jones brings to the side. Their pressing and how comfortable they are on the ball. You think the squad stand still and never improve? Anyway right now Barca have the best sets of midfielders around..q

ya, not quite the same batch, current one has promising youngsters, hopefully they are able to emulate their senior smile.gif they have no chance to face Barca this year, got to wait for another about 9 months to have the possibility of revenge, hehe smile.gif

No doubt, Sir Alex has marvellous success in BPL but then those generations still fall short in Europe in terms of winning. However, he is definitely one of the greatest in the game. smile.gif

Nobody will ever know whether the Special One can achieve the feat of Sir Alex if he still with Chelsea. I would say the key is continuity and trust in the manager. Look at Barca now, its so scary to think that if Guardiola has given the chance to continue his job in Barca, how many UCL title they can win with the current team and those emerging talent? smile.gif
*

I would say that he has cracked Europe. If the ref had been more consistent in his decision in that Bayern game, I feel that we had a very good chance of winning the CL that season. 3 finals in 4 years and it really should have been 4 finals in 4 years. Unfortunately this time we're up against a really good Barca side. That's his next challenge. But early in the season we saw how promising the team was. We might be out now, but we'll be back next season.

It show how important "big" player like Terry, A.Cole, Lampard and Drogba, even they can't perform well every week against weaker team but Man Utd need this kind of player to have any chance to win Man City or Barcelona in future, defence not a concern, we got Vidic and Evra, only midfield and maybe on strong target man to partner Rooney
*
What the heck are you talking about?
Vida, Evra, Giggs, Rooney..
Not on the same level ka? It wasn't so long ago that Carrick-Giggs schooled that Chelsea side.

Carrick, Fletcher, Nani, Park, Valencia, Ando, Rio all have performed wonders in the big games.

'strong target man'? WTF.

Well, now that Fletcher is out, we really do need a midfielder. With Ando and Cleverley always getting injuries here and there, we need someone in. Carrick alone can't be expected to hold that midfield together. There's Jones I guess, but as of right now he's just a backup for that role. He's doing OK there, but prefer a more natural midfielder. In time he might be good there, but right now not good enough to play in every game there although I suppose him being awesome he would do well in most cases. But we need more than that. Opportunity for Gibson I guess. There's a silver lining somewhere that he's still here and not at Sunderland or somewhere..

Man Utd need to take the pressure off Wayne Rooney says Paul Ince

SOURCE:

I half-ly agree with him, WR10 has been stressed out in the CM role for quite some time now and if money allows it, it's better not to gamble on the recovery of the current injured players and channel this monetary source into the Jan transfers.

But does it reflect wisdom? No. But provides assurance and easy quick fix, yes.

The reason above some might decline to admit is partially fueling the debate of this 'is it a go for the Jan transfers VS. recovering injured players and respect SAF wisdom.'
*

we only used Rooney there for 2 games when even Carrick wasn't available. Hardly overused. That's what using the squad depth means.

Well, SAF resisted the urge to bring anyone in despite Hargreaves and Saha out for half/most seasons in the past. He might well do the same here.

Carrick-Giggs/Jones/Gibson. Now that the news have settled down, it isn't as bad looking. Park and Rooney can cover there a few games. And we'll have Cleverley and Ando back in the coming two months. It's not perfect, but it's not the end of the world. Could definitely do with another addition though, but it's not easy to find and attempt to get the right players in January.

In 05/06 it was similar. Keane left midway in the 1st half of that season. We got knocked out of the CL in the group stage. Scholes got that eye problem and had to rest for half a season. And we had to rely on O'Shea-Giggs for the remaining of that season with Fletcher that time only useful in the big games. We end up 2nd in the league but had the most points looking at games in that 2nd half of that season. We have better and more options to choose from this time around. I could well see SAF doing nothing about it. It's not because of his ego/pride, but he trusts his players and circumstances surrounding January transfers is not ideal.

Since we are no more in champion league, maybe the squad good enough to maintain top 2 in the league  wink.gif and maybe go to EUFA Cup final or win it tongue.gif

Too bad we have to face City as this early in FA Cup, struggle to play them when all player still available so don't think can win with current squad sad.gif

So one game=all games would be the same result?
Did you forget earlier in the season when our kids blitz them to pieces?
