Think OK. Sometime cheapest may not be the best. As long you feel comfortable dealing with him, and not too expensive.

I got the quotation as below.
1) Piping from Main pipe to Tangki and Kitchen : RM1,700 (Poly pipe)
2) Installation of toiletries : RM500 for 2 toilets
After discount total is RM2,000. I didn't change the Tangki. Other piping for toilet and kitchen will be done by my main contractor.

HDPE pipes are also known as polypipe, but there are different grades and etc

reliable in what sense ? the pipe cannot burst ? crack ? leak ?

most pipe are reliable if you get the correct grade , the unreliable part is the joint..

either by glue/cementing/compression.. all has it weakness .. the best one i know is butt fusion but nobody uses it for home more for commercial/industrial use

update : As for Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PP-R), is one of the latest pipes which are well proven material in domestic pressure piping systems for hot and cold water due to its high internal pressure resistance and long lifetime at elevated temperature.

mostly used in hot water..

Ppr pipe got different grade for hot/ cold water, mostly use for hot water to replace expensive copper pipe, its very reliable cause it use heating tool to melt the fitting n pipe for joint, their fitting very expensive .
Cons : difficult to repair when accidentally drilled, need special tools

oh yes, he did tell me that they will use a heating tool to melt the fitting or some thing like that...

Actually, the PPR pipe will only be used from Meter to Kitchen and water tank.

The rest of the house is using PVC and UPVC..

PVC Class 6...UPVC i have yet to confirm with him the Class...I hope its good... smile.gif

I was told to use this ppr too, pipe is cheap but fittings expensive and dont know how to diy as yet. so when there is a problem got to call in the expert and pay.

Try not to have too many types of pipe in a house.

video of ppr piping fusion joint

PPR is good but, for diy/self repair not feasible cause you need the machine, that melt the piping to the fitting to be joined

plumbers will charge alot to recoup back the cost of the machine smile.gif

i think this new pipe is also cannot stand acidic since its easy to melt due to temperature..same as ABS. ABS is melted when we put the ABS glue before we glue it, it you notice.

you can't judge it by looks..

cause according to the tech specification its acid proof

"Corrosion resistance and scale free"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polypropylene << more info on PP

Just discovered yesterday. Instead of copper pipe use the thin stainless steel pipe. Cheaper and stronger and ss is clean. Use copper fittings for joints.
