Short review of the Saga FLX
Well, firstly, i'd like to thank the owner of the flx for allowing me to test drive the car for some 50km. that distance allowed me to gauge the car relatively well. from the outside, the biggest difference would be the Elegant Brown colour. darker than the Cafe Latte light brown it replaces, this seems to suit the car better, giving it a more matured look. from the back, the SAGA FLX badge is more upmarket/premium than the Saga FL, due to the badge material and thickness. to the untrained eye, the front of the flx is just like any other FLs on the street, but upon closer inspection, (only for the CVT model) you would notice a gearbox cooler at the right hand side of the grille, just beside the proton badge. on to the performance. the moment you press the throttle and get the car moving, the first thing that occured to me is the smootheness and quietness of the ride. the engine is mostly quiet when below 3500rpm or so, but beyond that, it does get somewhat whiny. the cvt, imho, is a very good choice to mate the campro, because it elimates almost (if not all) of the (minor) torque dip that the normal 4sp auto has. the flx seems to have oodles of power. you dont have to rev hard to get it moving, and when it does get moving, the speed climbs at a somewhat alarming rate. compared to my manual BLM, this one reaches 110km/h and beyond without myself noticing. maybe its the single speed nature of the cvt, that gives the impression that its fast. on paper, proton quotes a 0-100 time of 13 seconds, but in real life, it definitely feels faster. so dont get surprised that you may get a few speeding tickets if you're heavy footed. as a conclusion, i dare say that the cvt transforms the saga flx into a more upmarket car. and the upcoming 1.6 FLX? i cant wait. |

QUOTE(NewbieBetta @ Nov 7 2011, 09:55 PM) anyone in here would like to DIY chassis foaming on their SAGA...confirm special price just for SAGA owner Chassis foaming?I feel it is useless. Chassis is made to deform under collisions, if do chassis foaming, the structural integrity is all altered In an event of an accident, I dare not say what would happen... |
