hi, is that normal that my current running appliation page shows the used ram and free ram added up to be 700m++ ram?
*
Yes, it have 1GB of RAM. Some of them are allocated for GPU to do rendering thus the reason it have about 700+MB left

Stock ROM on Razr are so good that there is nearly no reason to change it. Root it and it runs great.

Hi guys.
Im a new owner of this phone, yet to find a good casing for it, can any of you good sir recommend me good ones? thank you very much
*

This is what I'm using. Comes with pre-cut screen protector that fits on the screen and along the sensor, front camera, earpiece and microphone. Case is very well build, rubberized, and feels great. All ports and microSIM/microSD flaps are easy to access, and buttons are not obstructed. It made it slightly thicker, and because of its rubberized matte finish, its very hard to get it inside and out of tight jeans because this phone is quite wide

All Android have sucky battery, not just Droid Razr, in fact all smartphones have it. You want extras, it comes at a cost. Even iPhones users nag about it. This is the LEAST problematic Android phone I ever use.

is it true? ok.. i used samsung s2 non g..
which one the most batery sucker?
s2 or razr..? coz maybe my fiancee wanna used s2..
im attracted bcoz its cool design..
*
Ask the S2 user then, there is S2 thread somewhere. It really depends on how your usage, WiFi, video watching, browsing, YouTube, play games etc. will definitely eat battery. At most I get 2 days of battery life, but usually it only hold for a day if you use it regularly

but if OTA update to ICS, will the root be removed again?
*
Even OTA from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 nullify the root.

if ota will unroot the device, re root again la right?
*
Yup, OTA from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 doesn't really wipe the data so all your apps, including superuser still there but it won't work, but of course you can just reroot again to get the root access. I don't know whether OTA to ICS will wipe data or not

Hmm....should I trade slight thickness, slightly more money for a better battery life? This phone means a lot to me because it's a present for me for near flawless pointer.

Buying Maxx for standby phone? You guys were richy rich. Just put it in flight mode at night or when you don't want to use it e.g when driving. I noticed battery life is doubled when in flight mode, since this phone uses my second SIM I don't receive text/calls frequently, about 2-3 calls/sms per week.

But I wonder, why even 2G network on standby uses so much power? I could get 2-3 days on regular uses (an hour playing video, an hour playing games etc.) in flight mode, in 2G mode it barely lasts 2 days on same usage. Perhaps the antenna is small so it needs more power to get signal?

If any of you fail, make sure you don't tinker with any stock apps. If you either freeze or uninstall it or doing any modification to system files such as modifying build.prop the update could fail. Revert everything to stock before applying to update.

I managed to messed up the update, because of build.prop. I deleted the modded one and forgot to put the backup one back. The system won't boot just stuck at motorola logo with dual core word. I just fixed it but I installed the Asianretail instead of PSHAsianretail so now I need to download the other one because the Asianretail don't have ICS yet. Bugger doh.gif

after doing the manual update, will i receive any update in coming days??
*
Of course, its official update. Unfortunately I still get an error during manual update. Very annoying. Too much check ruins the update.

On ICS now,
Fully charged before sleep @ 12, but wake up 6:30am my battery at 5%....
Check my battery usage,
Motorola Services used > 50%
How to decrease above usage?
*
Root it and freeze any unwanted motorola apps you don't use using Titanium Backup

manage to update manually? I did try manual upadate as per xda forum. error 'status 7' during installation.
did u using the fastboot flash?

I'm using the second post, second step from this because I am from PSHAsiaRetail. This flash back system files that I been changing so all the check before flashing goes through.

Use EPRJ_FlashITRZR_Windows and put the system_signed (last file from the link on second post, second step) inside on where you unzip those and click FlashME. After that just reboot, enter recovery and flash smile.gif I just rooted it and done some testing, I found out free RAM is less than 400MB, I get over 500MB on Gingerbread.

Najmods!! broo ur here hahaha r u using razr or razr maxx? biggrin.gif looking for reviews or honest opinions about it.. kinda cant be bothered about one x n s3 cuz if a 4g tech wave comes they wont survive it either lol
*
I'm using standard razr only smile.gif the phone is great, the best phone I ever used. Sorry for late reply because I don't have internet on my rented house since my house is on major renovation for raya tongue.gif Since I haven't done any reviews about it here is my opinion about it

Pros:
- great non slip kevlar back, strong gorilla glass at the front
- great build quality and feels solid
- stock ROM are rock stable, no lockups and hangs, on ICS I havent have any problems yet
- performance is great, battery life is good
- audio quality is good, from onboard speaker and earphone (plus equalizer for you to tweak too)
- 10-point touch, so you could play virtually any games or use all your fingers if you wanted to do something on it
- very light for such phone, other comparable phones feels heavy after you use razr

Cons:
- some bloated apps, but it could be easily removed/freezed when rooted
- kevlar + gorilla glass means the phone is strong, but it also quite flexible because of it's composite nature, means it could easily bent. I heard that there is someone (yes just one person) who having the screen crack because he put in tight jeans or something. So be wary, I'm using hard cover so its a non issue.
- pentile matrix means individual pixel is quite visible to my eyes, but only if you look very close to it.
- SuperAMOLED means the panel colors could burn in long term, but to counter just use low brightness when applicable.

ICS impression:
- battery life is on par, if not, superior to Gingy
- great interface, and butter smooth animation even at low CPU speed
- very, very stable and no issue whatsoever
- game performance isn't any worse than Gingy which is a plus for the visual improvement of ICS
- brightness could go lower than on Gingy so it's much more comfortable to browse or play games at night with light off
- very memory hog, eats up quite a lot of RAM but of course it's not lag or anything. Android just use any available RAM it have unlike Windows

So far that's what I found out about ICS. Makes me kinda eager to buy the lapdock, probably it could replace my laptop as well for normal browsing

thanks for sharing

the RAZR MAXX should be the same i presume?

Maxx have almost twice the battery capacity, and thicker too. Thus it have better battery life, AFAIK its the best selling phones in the US because of it, even beating iPhone 4. But I'm all for it's thickness and the curve on it's back so I'm not gonna change laugh.gif
