Okkay, link added.
I've also experienced KIES connection problem which only can be solved after total reset which I've mentioned. As your Physical Device Object names, I cannot find it, I'm in Windows XP... Also, those device numbers are too general, might not be the same with other PC and probably wouldn't be much help.

I believe there are lots of applications on the market that can be used to save your Contacts and SMS into your internal SD. Then, data inside your internal SD can be moved to an external SD card. You can use wifi... but it is a little bit complicated

Contacts you can sync with Gmail. SMS you can use Sms Backup and Restore app from market.

Did you guys ever tried using Mobile Odin apps from market to flash firmware without worry losing your root?
The app was built by Chainfire himself. If it fails to work, you just sent the dump script to Chainfire Mobile Odin thread and he will find a way to make it works.
Using Mobile Odin will not increase you binary counter

What about for those non-root devices? sad.gif

I'm afraid you have to root your phone first in order to use Mobile Odin. Good thing is, when new stock firmware comes you can straight away flash it without worry of loosing root or waiting somebody to built a new insecure kernel.

You can get some 'taste' of Winmo 7 by using launcher and Winmo 7 theme.

does anyone know if making a custom rom orginally made for I9100 work on I9100G is hard and takes a lot of time or is it easy if you copy some files from stock rom or juffo's rom or something similar ?

i have 0% experience so i'm just asking, since it appears that nobody pays attention to the I9100G at all, so maybe we have to find some other ways by ourselves lol

if there's any developer reading this or if you know a rom developer would you tell him to give it a shot ? the I9100G is not much weaker than the I9100 maybe just 10% slower, so it's really a shame not to enjoy modding it when much much slower and weaker android phones have dozens of roms and kernels!

Better don't try to flash any custom roms that meant to non-G version into your phone as you'll end up softbicked it.
- Nearly all reputable rom builder use non-G version as the phone comes earlier than the G version. Most of this rom builder buy the phone themself for their daily usage and for rom building., so it would be a waste for them to buy again a new phone (G version) just for the sake of making rom for others.
- If all or most of ordinary G version user can each donate a little sums of money., collectively it will be enough to buy one or two phones then donate the phone to one or two reputable and active roms builder. This way you can get more and continuous custom roms.
:::my two cents:::

I tried the "What you'll need;
1. Download DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit from here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582. I've used the version 1, but I think version 2 should also work........"
Sadly, after the whole process follow exactly what is mentioned, it doesn't worked on my "G" version.

Along the message has message "mount: permission denied <are you root?>", "Unable to chmod...", "failed....". until __cleaning, ___rebooting.

But S2 did not rebooting itself, it just stay as it is.........

I shut down the phone manually, then restat manually with USB connected, after restarted, it show, all Done. But there's no Superuser icon at all, indicating rooting failed!

Any step I have missed, can help?  Tq in advance.

Try download superuser app from market and install it. See whether your phone rooted or not.

Guys I just got the I9100G and I am wondering how to change themes or launcher? Newbie here.
*
You can change theme and launcher without rooting. Just download your preferred launcher from market then download suitable theme for that launcher.
Exp..install Go Launcher EX then get the various theme for Go Launcher EX

hi wanna... issit safe to buy sgsii outside msia?? got international warranty ?
Aus set. I9100
*
I dont think SGSII got international warranty. You have to send back to phone to the origin country for warranty claim. You still can send your phone to local service centre but had to pay fees for any works/repairs done..
Btw..Merry Christmas to all SGSII users.. :-)

Search over XDA forum and found out many links of this 2 rom already dead.

Can someone share out ??

I think every devs wait for official ICS before building their custom roms.
