Dude, there's no CWM apps in the market o_O
Okay, you can try this link first on how to get CWM
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to...-android-phone/

And if you still fail to get your CWM then only you use this link below

Good luck

Thanks waveweaver. I've included the information in the first post.

Also included new way to root SGSII I9100G WITHOUT flashing with ODIN. I bet it will also work with I9100.

Lucky you, can you guess mine? With all the trials and errors, its already been 35 sweat.gif

Haven't bought USB JIG yet, doesn't think its necessary

QUOTE
So if I want to upgrade to 2.3.6 baseband DZKJ2, I can just use DooMLoRD's toolkit?

Nope, use KIES to upgrade your phone AFTER you have reset the binary count.

I'm thinking of capturing USB signal that KIES send to force our phone into download mode without increasing custom binary count. Anyone got any ideas?

If nothing happens, then your phone is not rooted, nothing changed.

Have you removed the lines that I've mentioned?

Can you print screen the black and white screen?

Use USB JIG to remove it. Please go through some of the posts here, you'll find the answer to the yellow triangle

Probably you would be better off asking the question in the original XDA forum. Read through all the posts, probably someone else might have asked the same question.

It sounded to me you might need to hard reset your phone. Refer the link below;

Warning: You might loose your apps

Anyone got any better idea?

YAY! found out the problem with the script thumbup.gif

I was typing the command line by line, therefore there was time for the device to reboot and reconnect to the adb interface.

What you need to do is to basically add a pause command, "@pause" right after the deleted line. Please refer the first posting for reclarification. This will allow you to give around 20 second time frame for device reconnection.

The first method should now work... If not, please share your output

It seems the tools was having problems with your phone.

1. Have you enabled the USB debugging and Uknown sources?
2. Can you confirm your firmware version?

I don't think so. This method should be somewhat general for froyo and gingerbred, so i think it should work

Until now only 2.3.6 users who reported success, but there's no non 2.3.6 users who failed either...

EDIT: It seems that my computer have no problem recognize the phone though when it's on Download Mode, kinda weird. I guess it's more of the firmware problem than anything else...

Tried your method earlier, but the result is still the same. I checked with the device manager, and all of those devices said that the problem is that "There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.", even though I have installed the USB drivers inside my laptop.

BTW, my phone's firmware is GINGERBREAD.DZKJ2, the one I downloaded using wifi via software update on my phone.
*
I think you should google how to repair samsung driver installation. If you install KIES, there's a troubleshooting button which will basically repair and reinstall your driver. Maybe that will help

Oh, I tried that button before, which also didn't solve the problem. However, like I have mentioned previously, my laptop recognize my phone just fine when my phone is in download mode, so I highly suspect there's some sort of bug with Samsung's firmware. Well, guess if I want to root my phone, I have to do it the old fashioned way then. smile.gif

Probably you should try to use other PC first

I did try on my father's laptop, which has XP instead of Vista (my laptop). I installed Kies on his laptop, and plugged in the USB, with the same result as with my laptop (can't detect the right drivers to install). Again, I deeply suspect the firmware is the culprit here, cuz there is a user who posted here previously that have no such problem until the upgrade to DZKJ2.
*
Hmm... Too bad... you would loose the latest firmware.

If you manage to save your files/data somewhere/somehow, you can always do a Factory Reset to clear up EVERYTHING, then you can dial *2767*3855#. Warning, you'll loose EVERYTHING, including data inside the internal sd.

I9100G, can you update the 1st page with link for DZKJ2 aswell? Its for those who cant upgrade from phone and Kies.

I managed to update via phone but its after I removed MyKernel. And I'm having neverending problem with Kies on the PC.

Appreciate it! wink.gif

Okkay, link added.

QUOTE(Sulendil @ Nov 12 2011, 06:06 PM)
I'm not too keen with this method, since I have not backup any of my data yet, and I don't like to use Factory Reset if there is an alternative.

I think another method would be installing the driver manually, but with 8 drivers to install, and no reference points, it can be daunting. If there are people who are willing to check the corresponding drivers (can be found by clicking Driver Details under the Driver tab) for the Physical Device Object names (can be found on the pull-down list on Details tab) below, it would help us greatly in solving this problem. smile.gif
CODE
\Device\0000014a

\Device\00000143

\Device\00000144

\Device\00000145

\Device\00000146

\Device\00000147

\Device\00000148

\Device\00000149

*
I've also experienced KIES connection problem which only can be solved after total reset which I've mentioned. As your Physical Device Object names, I cannot find it, I'm in Windows XP... Also, those device numbers are too general, might not be the same with other PC and probably wouldn't be much help.

I believe there are lots of applications on the market that can be used to save your Contacts and SMS into your internal SD. Then, data inside your internal SD can be moved to an external SD card. You can use wifi... but it is a little bit complicated

If you update to 2.3.6, you can use the first method to root.

But, if you are interested in using custom kernel, then you might use MyGKernel, which support CWM and CIFS. Someone was saying that it was updated to 2.3.6, but still the posts showed it is 2.3.5 (DZKI1). You might go here to see how it fares, get advice from there;

Interesting,

People keep saying they have connection problem right after updating the firmware to 2.3.6. And factory format seems the only way to fix it.

Just remember, you can do a factory format by dialing *2767*3855#, but ALL your data will be lost
