Bought the phone few days ago and it was GB 2.3.3 ( 1.28.707.2 ). When I switch it on, I was prompted to update it to 1.35.707.1 which I did
Today I have just finished reading V2 of this thread and have downloaded all the necessary files to root/flash ARHD 3.6.2 XE - was thinking of doing it tomorrow. But an hour ago, was prompted to update software to 2.3.4 ( 1.45.707.1) . Well I have updated it and will hold on the upgrade to cook rom for the time being
After few days using the phone, the only thing that I find disappointing was the UI in menu of the apps - the scrolling is not smooth at all - and is slight jerky - I'd rate it a 5 against a 10 for the Galaxy S II

I bought it by bidding on lelong.com . New Original SIS with 2 year warranty for rm1.5k
You can always use clockworkmod recovery to do a nandroid backup

So far quite happy with it and is comparable with SGS II. Overall I would rate it a 9.5 vs a 10 for SGS II.
Yes will try some cook roms probably few days time. Now on stock 2.3.4 ver 1.45.707.1

Well I don't think the resolution affects the scrolling. The scrolling speed and jerkiness in the htc Sensation is similar to my previous HTC Flyer. My previous HTC Incredible S has no such jerky scrolling - is very much smoother than the Sensation. . And the htc Sensation resolution , just like my previous Motorola Atrix ( similar resolution ) I find is no big deal - it is not that obvious much better than the SGS II

XE is 1.5 Ghz dual core vs 1.2 Ghz dual core for normal Sensation model

I Buy online from garage sales lowyat mobilephones section : sunglobal 1850maH RM 65 - recieved the next day after payment made

I never use any form of sp on my phones since most are gorilla glass and my phone always fully covered in a flip case

Your nandroid backup is a full backup of your phone firmware, data, 3rd party apps, settings etc. So when you choose to restore from it you will get back EXACTLY when you backup it

I tried it with my usb otg cable - cannot even detect the cable. Only The SGS II works beautifully with it - I could connect my 16gb thumb drive, and my usb 120gb fat32 hard drive

I have both and I must say the sgsII is much superior in many aspects. Also the advertising blitz in local newspaper make awareness of the SGS II better. One hardly see HTC sensation advert

Never like HTC sense - is memory hogger. I replace it with plain zeam launcher. Good for newbies to android I would say. Similarly I also don't like Samsung touchwiz which I replace with adw
The cons of SGS II vs sensation - build quality not so classy, temperature you can feel higher due to its thiness, battery life slight higher few percent.
there will be never end debate which is better. For me based on my needs the SGS II wins.
Both phones have pro n con.

Get a spare battery ; i am using sunglobal 1850 maH cost me RM60

Quite Similar to the original battery . Depends on usage up to 12 hours no problem . My 3G always on 24/7 - 3 email accounts downloading emails every 30 mins, browsing about 2-3 hours, tweeter and newsfeed download every hour, few calls, 10-20 SMS , no games

I don't think so as I have been using such generic batteries for years already on all my phones. Sunglobal is one of the better generics ; others are Momax, Andida and Yoobao that I have too bought for my other phones

It is OK to have more than one device using the same gmail account downloading apps. Some paid apps eg Sygic Aura limits to only one device as a registered user. Infact most apps ( 99%) are OK without such restriction

You need NOT root to install those "free paid" apps

I have used both. Both have its pro and cons. In the end based on my needs, I prefer the SGS II

Added on November 27, 2011, 10:56 amMost telco sets are from Brighstar. But you can still register at SIS website for the extra 1 year warranty. That was what I did for my Maxis( Brighstar) set
