Just a tip, I realized the only app giving me notifications every few minutes was facebook. And you can't uninstall it. To save battery life, Log out of facebook when not in use, I know it's a pain to keep logging back in and out but it saves you a lot of battery life.
*
Turn off autosync for fb (both normal and htc sense), no need to log out.

how come gorrila glass also scratch?
*
It's impervious to almost anything...using it naked with no sp for a month no scratches...guess what, placed it in pocket of some pants with sand inside (went to the beach before, it's impossible to get 100% all sand particles out of clothing), got tiny marks, damn silica.

Uhhh....too bad.I thought our XE gorilla glass can't be scratches like SGS.

Guys,is there any code where we can set our XE on UTMS even if we switch to 3G network..(i don't want it switch to hspda cuz drains...)
*
SGS can be scratched too, gorilla glass is like bulletproof glass, put it to enough abuse and it'll still break/scratch...additionally your everyday normal sand is actually quartz or silica, which is like the 4th to 5th hardest material on earth...so unless your screen is diamond its gonna be scratched sooner or later.

there's a number sequence to access that option, but i forgot the combination, try google for it, i remember there you can set the things you mentioned.

If you want other cases from case mate website, can go check out this guy's thread, but items depends on availability.

Everyday I stalk LeeDroid... wishing some mega update....
*
Well, not moving over to ICS soon until a stable version is released, and I suspects some of the apps I use do not have ICS compatibility yet, so no rush for me here haha.

QUOTE(Zmir @ Dec 29 2011, 01:09 PM)
I was planning to flash AndroidRevolutionHD (Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) + HTC Sense 3.0 + Beats Audio) on my XE

but then i noticed majority of you guys are using LeeDroid.. any specific reason why?
*
Well, personally I prefer his ROMs because I've never had any issues with all his releases. ARHD is alright too, but his updates are rather frequent and downloading 300+MB every other day or two is rather tiresome. Just my personal preference though.

This one,bro?
Bricked_XE-aosp-1.6-ondmnd-1536-192.show-p1984.zipĀ

Coz i am having all the issue u listed using stock kernel
*
Guys, I'm using faux's latest kernels and it works wonders, never had any problems with my phone and the intellidemand governor in his kernel works rather well.

Perhaps many of you do not know but faux updates his thread at Rootzwiki more regularly compared to the thread in XDAdevelopers. Here is his thread in Rootzwiki, go check it out.

QUOTE(alloyion @ Dec 29 2011, 07:07 PM)
ok ,i will try re-flash bricked again.. and under volt -25
Btw, re-boot keep occuring even running at default 1.53

Woohoo..
Manage get into system tuner , reset to 1.34 then undervolt all -25 and move back to 1.53..so far so good
*
Funny, I've been able to undervolt mine -75 across the board without any problems. Maybe it's just certain frequencies that's causing you trouble when the voltage goes too low (normally it's the higher frequency range that does this). You try tweaking individual frequencies and then use Stability Test from android market to test those frequencies, or you can use System Tuner to lock to those frequencies while using your phone. I know it sounds like a lot of work but that's the best way to determining best voltages for frequencies.

Because for laptop undervolting that is the correct way to do it haha.

One last thing to add, for those of you who are interested and know generally what you are doing, check out this post by mike86, it's regarding the latest RUU from HTC.

I did that and I can tell that it is considerably smoother, and no more sudden lags and jerks especially when screen on etc. AGAIN, if you do not know what to do, or at least have some idea of the things discussed there, DO NOT even attempt, there's a risk of bricking your phone.

yes mate, quite a numbers of applications are not compatible with ICS yet. you've pointed out a kinda critical point for others who is considering upgrading to ICS.
*
Yupe, since ICS is still rather new, might have to wait a month or two before app devs can update for compatibility.

Is the smartassV2 governor fixed in bricked's latest kernel? (1.6b6)

Thats the only thing thing stopping me from moving back to bricked though, ondemand really doesnt cut it for me.

yea mate, it is advisable to flash the camfix if you're running on sense 3.5 with bricked. you may flash the kernel first and try accessing the cam, if it works fine then may skip the camfix. otherwise, just flash it cos it only takes couple of seconds only.  smile.gif

so how's faux kernel developing? it's been a while that i am catching up with both bricked and faux since i found the best kernel at the moment.
*
Can't really tell the difference between the both though....but after flashing bricked 1.6b6 it does feel abit smoother, especially transition from lockscreen to home window, or lockscreen shortcuts.

My only problem with bricked is the governor, on demand really isn't as great as a properly working smartassV2 or intellidemand.

PS: Action burst in stock camera causes the camera app to force close, on bricked 1.6b6, flashed the camera fix, is this normal?, I have no reference because I never really bothered with that feature, so not sure if its an existing problem or what.

i gave up trying smartassv2 and intellidemand when they're first introduced, they just doesnt seems to work. couldnt tell the differences of on demand with the previous 2, yet.

i never bother to play around with camera settings / features, so it is never an issue for me. as long as i can snap a photo then i'm fine. lol. i think burst mode isnt working with any custom kernel out there currently, correct me if i am wrong.
lucky owner to get the toy before new year, welcome on board  rclxms.gif
*
haha, intellidemand works like a more efficient version of on-demand....actually right, it really doesnt matter coz if I really wanted to tweak how the cpu scales i can just adjust the settings in system tuner pro, just didnt have time to test.

True that, why complain about a feature we probably will never even use right?, I remember only taking using macro, auto, potrait and playing with the exposure, ISO only and videos, never really bothered with the rest.

Slight reporting:-

Leedroid Supersensational 5.0.1 ICS
RUU by Mike86
Kernel the latest one in xda (can't oc or uv though)
system tuner pro, force both cpu online, sd read ahead changed to 2048kb

so with the above settings, ROM seems pretty functional, didn't have any crashes or FC's not reported by other users, and action burst in camera actually works lol.

Next would be testing all my user apps first to check on the compatibility, but there didnt seem to be any issue while restoring with titanium backup pro, with migrate system data on etc, but will open one by one to make sure, ill have a list ready so you all know what apps are compatible and what are not (at least the ones that i have though)

all hail the rom tester.  rclxms.gif updated the firmware as well.  brows.gif

btw, try to have a clean install of apps to test it out. restore via titanium backup seems messing the system and tends to have permission error.
*
wah i tidak sanggup owh redownload all my apps, it's going to take a looooong time, hahaha. For permission problems after restoring all your apps go back to recovery wipe cache and dalvik and fix permission, should settle most of the problems, or just go to the problematic applications and clear data.

Had a reboot while doing Bluetooth transfer for the first time, didnt happen after that though so dunno what's wrong.

unfortunately chainfire3d still doesnt work if there's any sense widgets around and sense goes into a force close-restart loop

force gpu rendering....hmm, its not working great as its causing graphic glitches in some of my apps, so for now its off. Read in XDA that the problems are most probably app issue than the feature itself - apps don't have support for it yet.

Hey all, back after a hiatus, work been busy >_<

So what's up?

Owh I think I read a post asking about flashing the new firmware on GB ROMS, well, as mike86 stated, it doesn't give any disadvantages if you flash the firmware for GB ROMS, so what the hell, I did that and nothing bad happened, as for improvements I can't really tell whether there is any or there is but too small to notice.

Switched back to faux kernel btw, battery life much better (for me at least) compared to bricked, probably because faux cpu governor is working properly as compared to show-p's smartass/on-demand.

For the battery problems, I'm not sure how it goes on stock unrooted phones, but its probably due to your battery info in your phone not registered properly. For rooted phones we can just calibrate battery by wiping battery stats and do a full charge discharge cycle.

0% would be around the ~3.2V mark while 100% should be ~4.2V

Additionally, please do not use task killers and let the android os manage memory for you. For Sense restarts, especially after playing HD games or heavy games, I would think it is a normal occurence, because Sense UI uses a lot of memory and when the phone requires more memory to run applications it will turn off the Sense UI. The only solution I see for this would be flashing AOSP/Senseless ROM...or maybe this may be resolved in Sense 4.0 (hopefully).

For those of you who are interested in rooting your phone, do read through the stickies in the XDA forum for our phone. It will teach you ALOT of things. Most important is make sure you understand everything, don't worry and take your time. For me personally I took 2 weeks to read up and understand everything about ADB, flashing, s-offing, rooting etc and basically everything there is to know then about my phone, and the end result is I'm a smarter user.

EDIT:

For those of you who flashed the firmware and are on 1.20 HBoot, you can revert back to 1.17 Hboot, there's a link in Mike86's thread about the firmware. Why would you want to revert?, so that you can have access to advanced fastboot commands, but most users do not use/need it anyway so it's your call.

Urm, what I mean is the area of screen for a wider screen is more than a longer screen. smile.gif
S II has a larger area than Sensation. smile.gif You can try doing some math. laugh.gif

Added on January 17, 2012, 9:06 pm
Area wise, S II is larger. smile.gif A wider screen will have a larger surface area. Try drawing out on a paper with different aspect ration and you will realize it. smile.gif
*
I'd prefer higher resolution compared to slightly bigger "real estate" but at a lower resolution....in terms of packing more things into your screen, higher pixel means you can pack more stuff in. Imagine your desktop icons at different resolutions. Of course android icons are more or less fixed in terms of grid size, but you get what I mean haha.

can i ask any stable ICS ROm available at the moment?

currently still using leedroid 4.3 till now lol
*
I'm on Leedroid 4.3.0 as well, super stable and all my apps run fine, great battery life too. Not moving over to ICS until all issues are resolved, or the ROM is done based on official RUU release.

Just tested my 8GB class 4 Micro SD using "SD Tools" here are the results I got after a few tests.

Kingston 8GB Class 4: Write 9mb/s, Read 18.7mb/s
Sandisk 8GB Class 4: Write 6.7mb/s, Read 19.5mb/s

Do share yours if you have so that we can somewhat come to a conclusion which card is the best for Sensation smile.gif

If I remember there's already information on this somewhere, one on xda and one site dedicated to testing sd card speeds.
