Nothing wrong, it won't show 100% (depending on how they tweak it); The percentage is just for reference. You may see 0% the phone still didn't turn off.
Many of us own both, I have both, the difference in obvious.
Aspire have both and he got amazing skills, check out his Flickr.

If you don't look at which camera took it, you might not even be able to tell. It's  more about the skill and how you utilize it.
But generally, N8 camera quality is way better. It's just like some people want to compare iPhone4 camera with N8... By looking at pictures along, you wouldn't really able to tell because like what aspire did, he can take amazing shots with N9, or iPhone4, but that doesn't mean it's better than N8.

I also heard CalvinPixels use his N8 did better than Nikon D3S, but that doesn't mean N8 is better than Nikon D3S, right? It's more about the skills, but if you want to compare the device/tools, then it's obvious which can produce better quality.
*
so can you take the same picture from both camera and upload it here....i'm sure you don't need skill to do this.....i would like to see the image quality comparison.....this is what i want from the first place....

i own a proper camera and i don't intend to compare physical hardware since camera phone is just a camera phone....it won't replace a real full frame camera in the first place....

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 12 2011, 12:32 PM)
Previously there was a website which show the comparison, but even that it's not a fair comparison due to limited control, the settings were different. N9 uses higher ISO which result in more noise, while N8 uses slower shutter speed.
And like KennyKB said, depend what you compare, lowlight or daytime/outdoor. If compare lowlight, it's VERY obvious.

For comparison, people can do tricks if you ONLY see the photo alone. I can provide better lighting condition for N9, so the end result can favor N9 or show comparable result.

I don't have the N8 with me now, I'm using N900 and N9 now, can't carry so many phones. But if you wanna see, just go to aspire's flickr and see yourself those photos taken with N9 and N8.

Tell the truth, you really wanna compare and FEEL it, go to Nokia Store, take the N8, take a sample shot, maybe you will UNDERSTAND IMMEDIATELY without even compare.
*
come on....unless the purpose of having a forum is NOT TO SHARE INFORMATION than what is it there anymore? hum....this is so weird....

anyway....obviously N9 have a manual control and i believe N8 also sure have the same manual control....same picture same setting....this is the real comparison

seems like I can't have what I want here....so Nokia Store here I come lah

p/s: I do admire Aspire pictures....he really got very nice collection of nokia images

I didn't say not to share? I already said the difference is obvious and shared this information; But if you chose not to believe, I would suggest you to try it yourself.
I also explain that seeing images comparison does not make justice as the settings are different, and people can do different condition to fool others into thinking the other is better.

Manual control? What sort of manual control? It's still limited if you understand manual control in photography.

In V1 thread, already got people posted sample and the website comparison for lowlight, the difference is obvious, but the settings is still different, so the comparison is still not fair; Are you going to rely on that comparison?
Actually, I'm not sure why it's so hard to accept what people say; Is it you want to be convinced or hear that N9 is better?

I didn't say N9 camera is good or bad, let you judge; But if compare N8 and N9, the difference is just obvious. Don't have to trust anyone here, you can try it out yourself, or maybe you might think N9 is better, but it doesn't mean who is wrong or right. As long as you're happy.

Yea, but need to get used to it too, sometimes accidentally swipe away the screen.
I turn on swipe down to close, so, sometimes accidentally close the app (landscape mode, the swipe down is landscape swipe down).

i do have to agree with you about this....i end up disabling it back and let it be in the multitask screen....so far no issue or whatsoever with having lot2 and I mean A LOT! of application running in the background....hahha

True thats why lens with big aperture cost a fortune.

Practically if you are into photography you know bigger aperture have better bokeh. I can confirm that the bokeh of N9 is better than N8

hey bro....why don't we do photography outing since most of us love photography? hehe just a suggestion

usually la, camera on phone, you set low ISO it will slower the shutter, high ISO it will faster the shutter. just like any other digital camera out there.

retaining the same exposure level. for the N9 I find that the shutter speed maintains, so the lower the ISO the darker the picture. I haven't view the EXIF.

I like Maemo / N900 because it works EXACTLY like my computer! biggrin.gif It's really a Linux in tiny-tablet.
i second your statement on the lower the ISO the darker the picture....seems like N9 have set minimum shutter to the camera to avoid camera shake but sacrifice the light capture ability

N900 indeed still the best pocket PC I have ever had....

hmm anyone disappointed with n9 battery life?, almost all the comment i read so far is people saying battery can last 2-3 days with high usage.

But from what i can see so far base on my usage pattern is it can only last like 1day.

This is my usage pattern
6am full charge 96%(this phone dosent charge 100%)

7.30am surf some web for 30 minutes using 3g (77%) <-- This is the culprit

9am-6pm dint touch phone much no calls or sms (55%)

In contrast with iPhone 4/ galaxy s 2 i am getting much better battery life  especially on iPhone 4

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Oct 13 2011, 11:37 AM)
This is what I did to get nearly 2.5 days battery life (short of 3 hours).

1) Brightness - set to the minimum.
2) Usage - push email (3 emails), Facebook, Twitter and web surfing (about 30 minutes in total during the 2.5 days).
3) No, I didn't activate power saving mode like what others claim I'm doing. Push email will not work with that.
4) Connected only via WiFi. And I am on 2G mode (but not using mobile data). <-- as what I suspected

Added on October 13, 2011, 11:38 amCalls, SMS etc are as usual lar.

3G data is known to have suck up battery life....so if possible try to avoid using 3G data at all cost

so far the further I can go 36 hours with dual network mode. but no mobile data usage.

viravira....you sure are super light user! hahaa

Can we conclude that N9 have set minimum shutter speed to 1/15?

I tested the FB chat it works marvelously . From what i know the Nokia N9 cant copy and paste with the default browser just yet and its lack alot of additional features too.

I tried it with my Nokia X7 earphone the sound is even more superb.

There's a bookmark function in N9. Once u have bookmark, it will be saved on your apps list. I find it interesting smile.gif
*
I would not prefer to have this as it will clog up the apps page

THis is simply beautiful bro! Is that sunlight or flash light u use at the back?

Have you found out the minimum shutter speed as I find that it's a bit awkward when we play around the ISO setting in low light condition

Yesterday I tried shooting in lowlight, not very low light, the camera seems refuse to use slow shutter, even it's already under-expose. I adjust EV + 2, also no difference, still dark. I guess it hit it's minimum shutter speed, which is still quite fast to compensate some shake.
Got good and bad, less blur shot, like iPhone, and makes people think it's fast like iPhone.
*
Well I guess no light trail shot for this one..

What can we expect from a camera phone right? This is good enough

But N8 has a physical camera button. How different is the operation between physical and soft button? I think the physical button reduce possible shake, no?
*
So far I'm ok with touch button..not much different since it can still 'half focus' like the big guns and compact

Erm, is the photo quality of N9 that bad? It is all blur. I think the person who took the shots didn't know how to use the AF feature?

Probably the colour and quality, N8 is very much better but the sharpness couldn't be that much different...
*
ya lohr.....i'm not really sure upscaling 8mp picture to 12mp is a good idea....upscaling will always give a blurry result....maybe they should downscaling the 12mp picture to 8mp?

anyway....i've tested the N8 already....yup the camera function is way better....but I'm not too sure about the image quality yet....phone/camera screen tend to cheat users as they are made of different material and technology....i haven't been able to grab a image file from N8....maybe this weekend I go and borrow one unit from someone hahaha....
