no, wrong. they accidentally trigger the event to find Excalibur but Kirito decide to skip it cause he want to save Asuna 1st. (if Kirito die when obtaining Excalibur, he had to start all over again from the previous save point)

Actually Suguo tried summon Excalibur 1st, but his rank already down as normal player. Then Kirito summon Excalibur for Sugou.




The part when Kirito really obtain Excalibur fair and square is after GGO.
