Hi, i am planning to put some money in PRS, mainly for the Rm3k tax deduction and also to get my RM500.

Which bank's PRS should i invest in? I wanted Public bank due to convenience but the funds does not seem so attractive.

By the way, if i am not wrong, PRS can't be withdrawed until we are 55 years right?

Nope, the plan I know is to pay for 10 years. Tax relief still have another 6 years. If you more prefer guaranteed, it may more suitable as investment is more risky

You mean by 2022 they are stopping the tax rebate for PRS?

Forget public bank. Use FSM. Yes that's right cannot withdraw until 55 years old.
*
Correct me if i am wrong, FSM is another broker like all the banks except i can choose from the list of all the banks? Their office is in KL based on the link you've provided.

Like in PB, i can only buy their own funds, CIMB, their own funds, etc?

Yes. Think of FSM as tesco where you buy everything yourself. If you want to minimise cost and maximise savings, best to DIY. Ask for suggestion here or FSM thread on which fund to. After do your research and see if it suits you.

I see, thanks for the info.

Ya, my tax relief part will be either on 21 or 24%. So, for 3k, it will be 600-700++. I was thinking, how about I just invest 900 for this year, and next year only put in another 3k. So, at least I can get tax relief of 900 and 1k incentive in 2017 right?
*
I'm in the same position and age as you, just created my FSM account and came across this new Rm1k incentive. So now i'm thinking if i should wait as well. biggrin.gif

I need clarification from all the sifu's here, if i'm not wrong, it has to be the first investment of minimum Rm1k to get the Rm500/1000 rebate. Second investment does not count, is that correct?

I've asked this in the FSM thread but apparently it's more suitable here since it's related to PRS:

Hello, first time investor here, got my FSM account ready last year but decided to hold till this year to get the RM1k incentive. biggrin.gif

I've decided to invest RM3k per year to maximise the tax rebate too.

My question is, should i just invest may be around RM1100 for one fund (to get the incentive) and then take my time to invest the remainder in the next few months? I think it would be safer to break into a few PRS funds right? What funds would be recommended for a beginner to start?

Hi, i have a noob question here, where can i see the yearly dividends of the particular PRS? I can see the growth % but not the dividend.

My understanding is there should be yearly dividend payouts like PB Mutual, EPF, etc.

Looking to make my first purchase of RM1k for Affin Hwang PRS Growth Fund smile.gif

*** Just found the info below, is it the dividend that is paid on 31/1 yearly?

while waiting for responses...you may like to know that, PRS funds is UT funds...thus dividend distribution in UT has no added benefits...it did not add value to your existing value in the UT fund....
(you just got more units but the NAV would drop at about the same value)

Yup, make sense, thank you.

What is your opinion on investing all on growth fund?

I've just successfully put my first Rm1k and looking if it's a smart move to put all under growth funds or spread it across moderate funds too?

Hi, does anyone know when exactly the extra RM1k by government for those under 30 years will be credited into the account?

Hi, i have a growth fund that i've invested last year at about Rm0.64 and it's RM0.59 today.

Would it be a better idea to average it down or look into conservative/moderate funds?

My investment is just for the Rm3k relieve only.

Hi, i've been buying AHAM growth fund yearly via FSM and it seems fine so far. Worth to look at other funds or just continue to get the same fund?

question that should be ask is how is it doing against its peers.
*
To be honest, i've never compared it for the last few years. As long it was a gain, i left it because this was for tax deduction and i can't withdraw until 55 years old (unless i pay the penalty and remove it).

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Nov 19 2023, 12:28 PM)
Depends on your definition of fine. If you are just want tax relief and don't care about return, then no issue. If you want say 3% return p.a then that's fine also. Just continue buying the same fund.

For me, I want to have my cake and eat it. I want my fund to match min EPF return and get tax relief. So it's not fine for me if they are not matching EPF return. That's just me.

So you need to know what is your fine is. If it's fine, don't invent the wheel. In my car, my prs is not fine. That's why I am looking for alternatives.
*
All the while it was for tax relief only and since i could not touch it till i'm 55 years, i did not bother much. Currently it's at 3.62% gain after a few years.

Can recommend some funds that are matching EPF returns? I can check it out.

Which PRS did you buy?
3.62%  over few years is quite low return.

I thought my  2 PRS was good enough..
they were indeed good up till 2021,
now is going down hopefully wont become negative
*
AHAM PRS growth fund, same like yours. You are right, i recall the profit was much higher around 2020-2021. I just deposit once a year around Nov/Dec for tax purposes.

Your W.A.C is much lower, mine is at 0.6291.

For now principal retire easy series and AIA Pam growth fund. As long as you have US exposure, you can match EPF returns. If your funds only focus on Malaysia or Asia Pacific (China) for past 3 years, you underperform EPF.

That's why I am looking for fund with high exposure to the US. From what is available on Fsm, only principal retire easy series and AIA Pam growth have that. If you are willing to pay service charge, public mutual have higher exposure to the US market.

I'm looking at both the funds now but they are not PRS is it? For tax deduction, it is PRS only right?
