guys, how bout reporting to the newspaper ? sure got atleast 1 paper interested in this story. maybe can get front page man. just collect all the evidences, bank in receipts, account number, hp number, name, ic, post, everything that u thing is useful and go to the newspaper company. if u do this, police will take this matter more seriously. ask the reporter to also write something like, " what is the police doing about this ? "

wow, this peson really give sarawakians like me a bad name. I also believe in COD that why I hv a lots of FREN who can do my COD.

Althought I'm newbie here but sory to hear the story.

I think the idea of giving the stories to the media is a good idea since most of the local paper here always don'thv enough hot material.

But that is not my decision. I thik viking, u hv the rite to make the call. I think I can ask some1 in SARAWAK TRIBUNE to post the story and the pict althought if it's a false 1.

Really want to bring back trust to sarawakians.

So like every transaction done here, it's at your own risk. Deal with it and stop creating spam in a trade zone

hmm, this shatters my confidence in online transactions, especially those that require you to transfer an amount of money first and you gotta wait for the delivery to arrive..
anybody knows how does the law protect the buyers from this kind of online business fraud?
and vikingw2k, have you reported this case to the police? if you have, what do they say? it's difficult right as everything is dealt online and through the phone, no black and white is written down and hard to trace a person online
perhaps it's rather dangerous to deal like this on the internet, i think there are other services like paypal where you can take your money back should there be any incomplete transaction

I definetely agree to use the media power, even we dun know who is him/her?

but when his relative saw/read XXX maybe they will call this real guy out, or when some Tai ko at KK read this and know which sia sui pai seh his face. ~~~

It's very easy, we gather ppl and post a fixed add everyday at each main newspaper, s@@ how public power going to did that out, after all, telekom can jejak kaki sikit,~~ then u all sure can guat him out liah. thumbup.gif

I've only bought something online once, and it was only a cheapo T-shirt so I banked in the full amount first before the seller posted the item.

So it seems that there is actually a practice of sending the item to the buyer before he/she banks in the amount?

Why not have the buyer send you details (with proof in black and white) such as home address, work address, work details, IC number etc, all of which must be counter-signed or at least approved by another party, preferably an employer or gov'n officer.

It should help a little to promote more trust btw ppl.

first of all.. vikings you should've asked the mod to get his IP address from the forum's server as soon as you realised that you've been scammed. PhPbb keeps a track record of IPs used by every account. With that IP and timestamp, bank record and other victim's testimony, it's possible to then lodge a police report to persecute him or at least track the conman down.
I'm not sure if you're able to do that now as there's a maximum time limit after an incident where you can lodge a report. Basically you need a court order to trace back the ip address from the ISP which i'm assuming is TMnet.

Mods, perhaps it'd be great if there's an anti-conman procedure set in place for new buyers and sellers and in the event if a con had taken place. Telling people not to buy from newbie is just limiting the market though COD method is the best way to prevent fraud.

I don't know about u guys but i think Malaysia should adopt a stricter approach to online fraud. Our law is so lax that it's considered as one of the fraud heaven on earth.. which is why most online transaction companies don't want to extend their services to Malaysia (like paypal).
