The wallpaper if get wet for long period of time will be damage, and if you have wood in that area it maybe damaged too.

Look positive, it may not be worst as your expectation. I recall my 1st floor wall have high water rating, and the roof cause are due to roof top leaking, where water snap into those gap, but once the contractor seal off, my problem solved...
Cost wise only few hundres with good sealer...

Errr... just a thought. If you put a PE sheet, then cement it over with water proofing mix can solve ah?? blink.gif

I thought since PE is used as water vapour barrier on ground the same thing can be done on wall. tongue.gif

This will just transfer from one area to another area. Water could move to other place if somehting block.
also, what if your water meter continues running???
