The bulky gundam name should be Virtue. The back-pack of fan thingie may have similar function like Tesla Drive in SRW. BTW, I think Exia may have cast-off mode, coz earlier in the ep, the face is similar to usual gundam face (have 2 lines at the mouth)

Actually this only apply for most of Gundam series that was not set in UC (except for Gundam X). If you watch UC-based Gundam anime, you will find out that the Gundam sometimes barely survive against fighting with non-Gundam MS. And in V Gundam series, Shrike Team, which use Gundam on few last episodes are killed by non-Gundam MS.

In UC-based Gundam series, usually only one side owns Gundam-type MS (which explains why non-Gundam MS can kill or badly damaged a Gundam-type MS), while in non-UC series, usually both sides have their own Gundam-type MS
