when installing CF or fiber hood... hood pins are basically a must.... get those aerocatch pins for a neater look.

if u dont intend to install the pins.....dont bother installing cf/fiber hoods....ur not only endangering urself... but other road users as well when they fly open at high speeds.

FYI, CF/fiber hoods are illegal... so good luck with JPJ if they find out.
*
iinm most of the ones being sold here are low quality CF ontop of a fibre base.
not very rigid but very light.
if it breaks away at highspeed it will most likely break instead of cutting through cars like a knife.
if wanna avoid JPJ/PDRM kacau its best on a black color car.
my old black car had a fibrehood for a long time before sold, nobody disturb.

*
i thought all FD2R already have ground effect under trays as stock, whats the benefit of the custom one? brows.gif

I only heard/know of 3 persons... you're one of them.
another guy wanted to do it but not sure if done or cancelled.
nope... K-series...  K20Z2 I think (non type-R) convert to K20A (type-R)... gearbox on same side.
*
iinm it is the R18 which has the gearbox on the wrong side if change to K20, correct ah sifu?

K20 I'm sure... The R18 in the 1.8L FD1 should be the same, at least from photos I've seen, cannot recall since most of my friends who own FD Civic are using FD2 with the 2.0L engine. Didn't spend much time studying the 1.8L since not much potential.

Basically if you facing and looking at the engine bay with the hood open.
R18 and K20 the gearbox on the right hand side. (Integra DC5, FD1, FD2, FD2R, FN2, ES 2.0, ET)
For B series the gearbox is on the left hand side. ( the older Civics)
Which one u want... ?
Puchong, Kinrara - cheap, whatever also can do.... but job quality see ur luck... mainly cheap
Sifu in cutting cost for customer benefit (at least for my and my friends cases )

Sunway, Jln horsepower - Expensive, long waiting list, Good quality job
Sifu in racing cars... engine builder of high HP cars for daily and track use

USJ area - half cut supplier and engine transplant
didn't deal with them much, but a good petrol head friend uses them

I normally go to the Sunway one because nearest my place and I want good quality work.
Some smaller work I'll go to Puchong since cheaper and faster if urgent need to do but Sunway guy keep delaying because richer customers chasing for their high end cars to be ready.

i think i am even more confused now laugh.gif

One more noobie question notworthy.gif

I've driven the previous generation VTEC CVT City, and its power and fuel economy more than satisfy me, probably one of the best stock car below RM100K that I've driven.

Would FD1 (1.8) satisfy me then?
*
yes it would, it moves very rapidly.
just don't go and test drive more powerful cars unless you going to buy, else you'll feel like bye.gif when you leave the showroom laugh.gif

Ok

I'm not really a performance freak, I just want something good enough for city use and occasional Gohtong Jaya/Karak sprint

Agree 100% on the rev thingy, no issue of wrong gear matching, just vroooom up the hill all the way thumbup.gif
And FC...with the City I only need to re-fuel 10 days once. With Myvi, for the same amount of $$$ of fuel, 6 days kena refuel oledy

But with $$$ (cost of purchase, FC, maintenance etc esp that I'm buying a used unit) an issue, dare not think about 2.0L
*
It can sprint, it can beyond 200kmh too.
When you first upgrade to it you'll find the R18 very good and overtake cars quite easily, until you notice your car doesn't have enough oomph to overtake anything above 2.0 at highways when you're already above 130kmh.
Stock standard FD1 can go > 200kmh and return >500kmh per tank of fuel.

QUOTE(unitron @ Jul 29 2013, 08:18 PM)
loved the FC on that VTEC CVT City.... gearbox great for going up Genting, rev never come down... unfortunately performance wise not really great

After that decided just direct upgrade to 2.0L DOHC Civic, dun bother with 1.8L...

Then decided what the heck... VTEC in the standard 2.0L is not really old skool VTEC, but economy VTEC... kena con by Honda..  ....  So decided swap in K20 Type-R  brows.gif

OK, if it fits your need...

dun regret later... had a friend who purchased 1.8L Civic brand new several years ago... later he say he should have gotten the 2.0L because performance wise just not quite there. Later he sold the car when he went overseas for a few years.

Come back now driving iDSI City... family man already...

not yet... I haven't tell you about the amount of aftermarket performance parts available for the best performance engine Honda ever made for everyday use. Only true if u using the K-series engine.  ...
(B-series owner... u know K-series is better right...  )

R18... dunno, maybe got some available somewhere in the world...
*
I know, I used to drive the 1.4 Jazz since 2003, before then not much CVT cars, can tapao most cars going up genting brows.gif

R18 only mod is going turbo doh.gif

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Jul 29 2013, 11:08 PM)
I'm thinking about the same thing as well, but what's the best mod for the FD2's K20Z3?
I was thinking maybe Frankenstein in the K20A head lol
Because swapping the whole K20A (as in the whole FD2R half cut) would means converting into Manual already right. That don't sounds too good honestly.
*
You don't wanna transplant you can always Frankenstein it with the K24 parts brows.gif

QUOTE(ada7914 @ Jul 30 2013, 09:14 AM)
yup.........vtec now no power sgt more to fuel econ...not like last time vtec...legend.....till now the most sought after is the b series.... cool2.gif
same with my fren 1.8 cheaper....but after that regret sold the car after a year then change to 2nd fd type-r....2.0 better than 1.8....the same goes for the es model.....1.7....better to get the 2.0.... icon_rolleyes.gif
K-series better la...but b-series jz enuf to fit the small pocket...hehehe..but still.... rclxm9.gif
*
The only true VTEC's are the 3-stage ones in the TypeR, funny enough its also found in the 1st gen insight hybrid laugh.gif

LOL! my story is even funnier!
Jazz 1.4 iDSI -> Civic FD1 -> City 1.5 VTEC laugh.gif

For the ES model the 2.0 is also a K-series engine but didn't get the tuning and upgrades the FD2 got.

B-series is good but its old.
