"A very impressive DSLR with an excellent feature set and possibly the best high ISO performance in its class. The lack of visible AF points is a frustrating omission, but if you can live with that the K-x is a little cracker, and a bargain too." - DPReview

hmm, if you are looking for performance, I would recommend to go for second hand bodies. DSLR are very durable machine, most likely no issue, however, you might want to get bodies with their warantee. and get it from someone or shop you know.
are u still searching the camera?because i want to sell my 600D lens canon 18-135mm...the price is 2300..but if you want it i can give u rm2100.. reason:because already have 7D..
Added on October 13, 2011, 2:26 amThen again... if your budget allows you to go beyond the RM2000 limit... then go ahead with 600D or D5100 (better yet D7000 - built-in AF motor)...
... if budget still not more than RM2000...
Best option to buy based on TIPA awards and DPreview assessments: Nikon D3100 - 72% Canon 1100D - 69% Pentax K-x - 73%
Do your in-depth research like I did... and you will arrive with the above choice...

For entry level camera - Pentax K-x is excellent for night shots~
...and for lenses, of course you can add more lenses later be it from Pentax or other 3rd party makers (eg; Sigma, Tamron)...
...and also, Pentax lenses even from 20-30 years ago CAN BE USED with a modern day Pentax DSLR~!!
I've got 3 50mm lenses f/1.4, f/1.7 and f/2.0 (bought them all because they were cheap ) , a Pentax FA 75-320mm zoom lens, and others - some of which were made even before I was born and yet I'm happily using them right now~
Do one thing... go to the Dpreview link for pentax K-x above - go the conclusion page, scroll down, you will find the comparison tool, then switch it on, add all categories...
Try comparing the Pentax K-x with other DSLRs and see under the "Low light / high ISO performance" ... you will be amazed...

RM1500-2000 wun make lowlight perform well too without sufficient lighting..unless u getting Nikon D3S
... just for fun.. try comparing the "Low light / high ISO performance" with a Nikon D3s... (of course cannot match laa - but just see first)

mmmmmmmmmmm i wondering... under rm2k, good iso till 1600 (some say 3200), why not a NEX?
If he is interested in that style of shooting, the NEX-3 is within his budget~ Sure, why not?

if you dont need a lot of lenses or some special lenses, go for the pentax system. they produce good cameras. somehow lack on lenses (for a professional)
