QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Apr 9 2018, 11:05 AM) IMO, its best to just go explore on your own, that way you're more aware of your surroundings rather than tcss with friends but i need to know my technique is correct or not and my photo is okay to take that way or shouldn't....Go somewhere unfamiliar.. explore... discover... shoot. Best thing is you don't need good gears for it. Any camera/phone would do. so i was thinking to learn meet and learn from others... haha |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Apr 9 2018, 01:25 PM) Streetphotography is mainly about the eye, "the feel" and just plain going out with camera shooting alot I tried to pretend like a tourist so I can snap closer. XDIt's not very technical...even Daido Moriyama also saja tembak with a point and shoot. Just take note of some basics and fire away like : - be aware of the sun's position and don't shoot right into it unless its for effect - take note of color...like those idiots wearing neon color outfit. They distract. - get close *insert robert capa quote* - use light and shadows to your advantage to highlight the subject et cetera because street photo must be taking very fast. Usually set auto focus or pre- manual focus? |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Apr 9 2018, 08:08 PM) Depends. Autofocus mainly on faster cameras.. zone focus on film and RX100..I set the middle button for manual focus so can just AF for distance.. click it to turn it to manual and just snap away slow camera... that's why want to set it to manual focus around 2-3 meters. But not really work out since object moving fast on the street. Then I need to figure out my comfortable distance at the same time hopefully I didn't lose out bokeh effect... |

QUOTE(TrialGone @ May 17 2018, 01:20 PM) There is some interesting element though probably would look better if the taxi is more in the frame. Not sure what so interesting about the right portion of the picture. Thanks for your comment. Yes the original picture composed of bigger part of the taxi but partly blocked by a stranger. My original thought is make a portrait crop focus on the driver and passenger's emotion. Yet i feel like compose more element around the market area should be able to boost the lively feeling surround. And i thought to use HDR to boost the neo feeling around. But seem like not working..This post has been edited by wayne1004: May 17 2018, 10:34 PM |

Another shot at night.
Original idea is to use HDR to boost the colour at night, but impact is weak and colour not attractive. So change to yellow only... Appreciated c&c Buddha worship. by The Boulevard, on FlickrThis post has been edited by wayne1004: May 18 2018, 09:13 AM |

QUOTE(TrialGone @ May 18 2018, 08:11 AM) Never good idea to use selective colour (except few cases). Even if imperfect, just leave as it i, you can try lower down saturation on distracting element but when it is obvious, you can't just hide it so just leave it. Not that good but I think original without selective be better. I thought the yellow colour able to focus on as the main focal point. I will try to use either black and white or remain the same colour next time.. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ May 18 2018, 09:58 AM) My own noob 2 cents lah... folks associate street photography with B&W due to the iconic bresson, doisneau images but they're B&W simply cos that's what available at the time. i see. no problem will try.2018 already.. just shoot color lah. Use color, lines and light to compose instead of just quickly snapping something and then cook in post. |

QUOTE(Grajindo @ Jun 3 2018, 02:37 PM) i think there are people that suggest people using only wide angle prime for street but personally, i use everything, from manual prime to 70-200.. so personally as long as you're comfortable with the lens, then you should use it i have a prime lens ~35mm.. just thinking to get a larger aperture lens.. |

QUOTE(MooTikPin @ Jun 3 2018, 10:32 PM) It’s okay to use manual focus Im using a mirrorless but then no viewfinder...But the question is what body u pair it with If u use it with a dslr , using ur viewfinder to rack focus may be hard . Coz most dslr viewfinder are not accurate when ur aperture is wide , he did mention here at 2:20 https://youtu.be/PQNyu74Jd6U Then u need to use the live view but sometimes may be hard to use under harsh sunlight. If u use it with mirrorless, then it’s generally fine But some with good focus peaking will make the process of shooting much more enjoyable - the one I have used to shoot before is a7s2 and a7II, the s2 peaking is so much more accurate, making u much more comfortable when u manual focus Whatever it is, go head and buy one. Maybe not an expensive one TO begin with . See whether u like it personally or not Yes manual lens is very cheap indeed. |

QUOTE(TrialGone @ Jun 4 2018, 12:38 PM) The saying goes "zoom with your feet". Thats one of the appeal when doing street shots. You can go narrower with 50mm on apsc but that is already at borderline, IMO of coz. Anything more tele than that i tend to stay way too far, out in the open, pray no photobombers, very steady hand, and sometimes not getting any background due to extreme bokeh (street shots tend to look better if background tells a story). There is the cheaper samyang or mitakon manual if i recall like the 50mm f0.9 something. But unless its really low light, high aperture setting is not really ideal for street shots as u can see anything else beside subjecy, IMO again of coz. yes. you have the point. |
