I seldom do street photography now since I almost got strangled by a gangster in Myanmar. Apparently the guy thought I was taking photos of his girlfriend in which I wasnt. I was taking a photo of a dog in a big trashcan. Was surrounded by the gang and due to language barrier, hard to communicate. I wasnt sure why he got mad at first place. The incident really shook me. And nowadays, I only take photos of landscape/architecture at these places.

Hoping to try street photography again in Korea next month. I'm sure there wont be any gangster there. sweat.gif

Converted to mirrorless now. Already sold off my D90.

Yup gonna try Petaling Street sometime this month. At least now with mirrorless, the camera is wayy smaller. More "Tourist" look rather than pro-studio peeps.

Or you can prepare for anti-gangster tactic and shoot a series in Jalan Alor instead. tongue.gif

I long time never go back KL di la but if memory serves me right ... you can try this experiment.

Step 1: Fit a wide angle
Step 2: Head to jalan alor late night alone or with male friend. Do not go with group
Step 3: Pretend NBTD.. wait for someone to ask if you want amoi
Step 4: Take picture

See what happens. sad.gif

This is all personal preference.
The wider the lens, then the closer you need to get and the reward is the image shows more of the environment, viewers will see involvement and intimacy.

Personally, I will stick with one focal length per trip
