QUOTE(Thebestscammer @ Jan 18 2020, 11:21 PM) quick question. is there ever a reason so use a debit card if you have a credit card? coz if you have the $$ to pay with debit you might as well use your credit since you get the perks / points right? You're assuming you always have more funds than you spend, hence will always pay back in full and will never pay interest. Good practice, not something everyone is able/willing to do.Debit cards make it impossible for you to overspend. You never pay interest because you never borrow. For those with bad self control or who find keeping track of bills a hassle, debit cards are worth it. Put it this way, what's the point of earning 5% cashback on some portion of your expenses if you're paying 18% on ALL of them from late payment fees of CC? |

QUOTE(Thebestscammer @ Jan 19 2020, 05:31 PM) well, assuming that i do have the funds and will be paying what i use on my CC in full, using debit would then be moot right? because i don't see why i would use the debit if i can get the perks from my credit. unless like you said, where i might have a spending problem or if i do not have the funds and do not want to borrow from credit. By the same logic, some just use their one credit card for everything (earning 0.2% or less equivalent cashback value). The perks are not the point (or even noticed) for some.World is full of different type of people. For some earning that 20-30 ringgit per month isn't worth the hassle of keeping track of things. |

Do note as well that replacement card may take longer to arrive. My fraudulant transaction on 17th March was reported and blocked same day, until today has not arrived due to the card printer had to close (non-essential service) during MCO. Don't know when I will receive my replacement card.

QUOTE(JohnsonLoi @ Jan 6 2021, 09:12 AM) Just wanna know if my debit card has passed the expiry date, can I still use it? Transferring money is not done from the debit card, it's done from your savings account.I think we cant swipe the card in retail, but how about transferring money online? And also will my monthly bill can still be successfully be deducted from my debit card even if I have enough money inside but passed the expiry date? My debit card will expire on 04/21 but I am working in overseas now and can't get back to my home in Malaysia if they decide to send me a new card. Auto-debit probably cannot (in fact if you registered your auto-debit with the service provider they should not even request the payment from expired cards). |

QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ Mar 5 2021, 12:35 PM) This is a high yielding interest account. All Bank CS will 'pretend' not to know anything about BSA. Probably they are not even trained in it, but it is a requirement from Bank Negara, so don't bother and just ask to speak to manager (or show them the Bank Negara rule, then suddenly they will 'realise').I'm just confused with the transaction description that they put. Meanwhile, I'm being charged for RM 12 for BSA w/o fee by another bank. ![]() I called the CS for explanation and the CS is so blur! I told her your bank portal clearly stated no annual fee but she insisted that all Islamic saving account got such annual fee. I was like WTF! QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ Mar 5 2021, 03:09 PM) Both myself and wife have BSA and regularly participate in debit card promotions (not those specific debit card, the general PBB Debit card promos like the one you link). So it's not that your cashback 'cover' your annual fee, its that the annual fee is eating into your earnings unnecessarily =) With some banks, BSA means cannot have ATM card for example (they charge for the ATM card so may as well get normal account or get account with no ATM card). But for Public bank they give the regular debit card for BSA as well. |

QUOTE(iamkid @ Apr 3 2021, 01:16 PM) Very unlikely that your government transaction is.... at petron or online right?Except for those hoping to fulfill government transaction through some ebayar thing, that one not so sure. For those of us who are (for example) going to MBPJ and swiping at counter, definitely not counted towards the petron/online campaign. |

QUOTE(faizfizy39 @ May 1 2021, 03:45 PM) Sure it's for March? By my calculation this should be for Feb.QUOTE(charlene128 @ May 1 2021, 09:09 PM) Hi, may I know when was your last spending date for Mar gov txn? I got RM30 on 19th April too, assuming it's Feb my last transaction was 11th Feb. If it's March then my last transaction was 8 March. Highly unlikely finished by 5 Mar, more likely this is for Feb spending (in my opinion). My 5th transaction for MBPP via e-bayar was on 5 Mar but did not entitle for the cashback... |

QUOTE(Sumofwhich @ May 2 2021, 10:47 PM) no la, i ain't that generous to let citi hold 2k for that low of an interest when I could park it in rhb Doesn't make sense to only hold 200 for 10 transactions when each transaction you could pump up to 200 or whatever the hold amount is. I've hit the hold amount before, after that amount the dispenser will not release any fuel anymore (ron97 on a really large SUV).i was just testing the 2nd time, thought they will only hold RM200 for all 10 transactions It's only for a while, and even on your high interest accounts the interest for those days isn't a huge deal. Tambah2 lagi why use 10x example, I think no private user pumps more than 2x in a given 3 day period. |
