Just a share story for my renovation which start on last year.

About Sept 2010, I had appointed Kejuruteraan Keris Emas to renovate my house in Puchong.
On Oct and Nov 2010, the work progress is quite fast and I'm quite happy with that. However, start from Dec 2010, the work all stop and hardly to find the contractor name Indra Haliz. Everytime once his pick up my call (sometime I had to use different phone number to call him), he will provide bunch of reasons, e.g. waiting for parts, workers runaway, his vendor still pending and bla bla bla...

On Feb/Mar 2011, I managed to get his family and he come to me said that he will continue the rest of work. Again, he just show few times and only done 90% of my landscaping (this is another story again within him and the guy who doing the landscaping, it is also unhappy), but later on also doesn't show up and pickup my calls. Has contact his family again, his family told that he said there already too much works on my house and lossing so much of $$, should not continue my works. I just $%^$^#^#$% and again his family also totally does not pick up the calls.

On Apr 2011, finally I have made a police report and reported to tribunal court.

Below is the items which haven't complete:
1. Autogate system does not deliver and install.
2. Kitchen table top and cabinet does not deliver and built/setup.
3. 1 toilet does not tiles (originally I didn't plan to change the tiles but he dismantled my tiles due to mistake)
4. all toilet accessories include the toilet bowl does not install and 1 toilet bowl installed in wrong toilet which the size if different.
5. number of downlights install less than per contract agreement stated.
6. Autogate door comes with cheap quality but not follow the design that I choose, but still charge my RM4k+ included the autogate system as per contract.
7. Air con points and some power points does not install.

On May/June 2011, I have appointed new contractor and below is the more finding and fixing:

1. Water leak on extended kitchen, required to redo the waterproof system.
2. Change the lamps in L-box from fluorescent lamp to T5 and redo the wiring.
3. The wiring mostly just loop and loop, some wiring redo only (recently found the sockets on dining room does not provide enough power)
4. Extended kitchen landscaping does not doing well, one side of the wall is just 110 degree but not 90 degree.

Sorry to hear of your renovation contractor nightmare.
Why don't you put them up in this thread for other to decide for themselves and not get con by these people.

Bad Contractors

Only pay by job done. Initial work maybe 10% to 15% is good to make the ball rolling.

sorry to hear that.. how is your court case now? did he show up in the court?

How could track if he rename the ID / email address on here?

He could always register another ID, new email address, contact no., etc. However a person's face can never change.
So, putting up his photo will help others.

Ask him to put his previous project, he did ask me to visit PV12 condo on his past project.
he come to quote me end up din give me quotation.

Probably you did not look like a big "water fish", that's why didn't quote you.

I like ur idea ahha. Next time before engaging a contractor, just ask him to let u snap a few photos of him. If he is good, can help him to advertise but if bad, he will b on the blacklisted list.

hmm.. last year he told me I'm the one person for him in taman putra prima... it should be me... but never complete!!!! I appointed other contractor which quite ok for to continue and fixing my house.

not sure he dare to bring his customer to visit your unit....

actually if he give me the quotation, i may not choose him cos he is not familiar on renovation thing.
i tell him my bathroom will install the water storage tangki and need to install the copper pipe...he NEVER hear abt this thing b4. and then suggest me don't hack the existing tiles...just install on top of it....

and i ask him come on 2nd time for measurement...he din call me

i have heard tribunal court is super duper effective one.
eg. if they purchase faulty products, also can file.
if services rendered not up to par, also can file

was informed that cases are judge very very fast and as usual, ruling usually favours the victim (provided with sufficient proof lah).

hmm.. i didn't go for hearing. Coz that contractor does not sign the document and I can't find him at all. Called to tribunal and they said like that cannot do anything also -.-"!!!

to @Adele: when u logged a request and pay for the fees, they will provide you few set documents, print out and send the copy to the contractor, they must signed it as a evidence that they have acknowledged and required go to court for hearing.

If you have original sign document between you and contractor,time, and know people. Another method. Make police report, go to Lawyer with the police report make court case with judgment and they can even freeze their bank account. Is even better if they are using sole propitiatory company.

silverong, if that's the case..surely all the ppl that kena sue-d will not sign the document so that they can pretend not to receive it..isnt it?

i thought we could use courier to send until their door step. when they sign for the parcel..isnt it consider evidence of the documents sent? i know PTPTN and some debt collectors use this way to collect back the money. If not..everyone will just say 'didnt receive'

i have courier it and pos office return back to me after 1 days claims that nobody in the office on few attempts. I also called to tribunal court, the admin told me must have people sign, else you can't get back the claim amount even you go to the hearing.
