QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 28 2011, 03:38 PM)
If you buy Sept one, you can only trade for Sept one.

Yes, if you buy sept one, you must sell within sept, but if you don't sell also can, let it cash settled.
For eg. you bought Sept at 1360, you can sell anytime just like ordinary stock.
If you bought and not sell until 30 sept, at 30 sept closing/settlement price is 1365, you earn 5 points.

You can buy/sell oct contract now, or even Dec 2011.
Sep and oct can have different pricing due to outlook of the market.

There are 4 contracts in total for FKLI - Spot month, the next month and the next two calendar quarterly months. The calendar quarterly months are March, June, September and December.

For example, the spot month is Sep now. So the next month is Oct, followed by Dec and Mar next year.

So many MGOs lately rclxub.gif
It's MGO for SP Setia  shakehead.gif

KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--State fund manager Permodalan Nasional Bhd has offered to buy the shares it doesn't already own in SP Setia Bhd (8664.KU) for MYR3.90 per share, said adviser Maybank Investment Bank Bhd.

The offer represents an 11.4% premium to SP Setia's closing share price Tuesday of MYR3.50 and values the Malaysian property developer at MYR6.94 billion ($2.20 billion).

Permodalan Nasional intends to maintain SP Setia's listing on Bursa Malaysia, according to the offer letter seen Dow Jones Newswires by Maybank.

The takeover offer is in accordance with Malaysian rules that require companies to make a general offer once their holdings in a listed company surpass 33%. Permodalan Nasional's stake in SP Setia rose to 33.2% after it bought shares on the open market recently, the offer letter said.

what does it mean by "offered to buy the shares it doesn't already own" + "maintain SP Setia's listing on Bursa Malaysia"?
isn't takeover offer means makan all shares?
does it mean they will then sell back some in open market later?

Sometimes, wonder, some company is so generous on buying back, can spend hundred of million to buy back but yet so reluctant to increase more on dividend, despite good EPS year after year.
*
buy back 10% each year, can roughly mean EPS growth an additional 10% on top of what they REALLY GROWTH each year. right? hmm.gif

buy the shares not already own means that if PNB holds 50% of SPS so there are still 50% in the market(owned by u, me and others) which PNB intends to take from u (in this case at RM3.90)

SPS listion maintain on Bursa means SPS will still continue to be listed in Bursa as a new entity lor (similar to sunway. Usually after a company is takne over, it will be delisted from Bursa.
*
Which means after all that completed, you and me will no longer own any of SPS shares? And when it "re-listed" in Bursa, we can still buy from them in open market? notworthy.gif

Hey, im new here. Recently i joined the OSK investment challenge. Wanna know about where should newbie start?
Interested about the stock market. But im totally new to it, dunno start from where. Hopefully sifu can teach me some basics.
Thank you.

P.S. Am i posting at the right place?
*
Is this the second year competition? Last year also got one right?
As I understand, each team has an instructor right? So your instructor is your school's teacher? What is his or her role? Can he or she invite your team member to buy this buy that?
Just curious how the game works. biggrin.gif

Regarding how to start. I guess you may spend 10 hours to read as many threads in this forum as possible. Just follow the most updated threads and read on. I think this is a 18 days competition right? So REITS do no good on you. And dividend stocks also do no good for you. You need to find most "happening" stocks in the period. Basically means new flow. Or, you may play warrants for highest risk play. I don't know man, I'm also not very experience, can consider a newbie too.

Good luck! thumbup.gif

Er, im playing as individual. More information can get from here www.oskic.com. Yes it is a 18days competition. I think we are not allow to play warrants in this game. As a students, i can't afford to play in the real world, so im taking this competition as a chance to learn more since im interested in it.  biggrin.gif . I tried to follow the trend in the market, like buying the stocks that increases a lot, playing like a noob and totally based on luck. I know that's not a way to learn. So i hope sifus can give some hints  notworthy.gif
*
First of all, I'm not sifu, even far far away from one. tongue.gif

I think it's impossible to learn stock in express timeline such as 18 days or in a month etc. I think to become a mature investor, we need to experience some happenings in the economy(now is quite perfect timing as world economy is at high risk) and in corporate level (ie fake white knight, fake accounting numbers). I'm thinking, maybe at least 5-10 yrs experience.

Anyway, there are always two key area to start with: TA and FA.

TA is Technical Analysis, it's about timing for trading. Simply means when is a good time(or less risk) to buy and when to sell depending on historical transactions activity.

FA is Fundamental Analysis, that study the value of a company through many areas. The business model, the company's accounting numbers, asset values...etc.

Fastest way to learn is definitely grab one or two books to read first, and together with realtime play(through forums, news and market).
In older threads, some forumers posted some links to download some books. Maybe you can't try to find those and read.

Good luck! cool.gif

CIMB Research said although this offer is likely to push SP Setia’s share price close to the offer price, it limits the upside to its RM4.73 target price.

“In view of this and the uncertainties associated with the offer, we downgrade SP Setia from Outperform to NEUTRAL. We make no changes to our earnings forecasts or target basis of 10% premium over its RM4.30 RNAV,” it said.

Now I know how to read their paper.
Now only I know their TP is not for one year period, it's for short term period.
Now only I know. My bad. rclxub.gif
